I have the stock head unit in my CS. I just started have this Stop message come up when playing Cd's and it locks up the entire system. I have to eject the disk to get it to wor correctly. has anyone encountered this issue?
Yup i have definitelly seen this. Happened to me probably like 6-10 times in the past 3 months. Usually ejecting the cd fixes it. I have the stock unit too. I guess i should just get an ipod huh? I have seen it in some other variants too.. like sometimes it will just say track 1 but wont play... but i have seen the stop message for sure.
I have the Bose and have seen this on certain CDs when I first start the car, it seems to happen more on some CDs than others, I have to eject the CD or switch CDs when it happens on the CD Changer.
I too have the Boes and have this problem as well. Seems related start up with CD in changer as well. I must allways eject the CD. That Porsche has not yet herd of iPod yet is one thing, not yet able to master CDs is downright sad.
It happens to me too. I believe it is when the disc is scratched so badly it cannot continue playing it. It only happens on discs that look destroyed to the naked eye, but somehow it can muster a few tracks off it with minimal skipping before giving the 'stop'.
Actually, I think the manual addresses an issue witht the unit getting to hot while playing CDs and it stops the CD and the laser generating the heat. That says CD TEMP though in that case. I can't find any reference to the display reading "STOP".
Just happened to me today for about the 3rd or 4th time in the last 3 weeks (daily driver, basically). Ihave the Bose. I have to eject the CD too. It annoys me but not enough where I want to bring it in or anything like that. I figure if I can still get the CD to play by ejecting it, I'll live with it.
And if the function is intentional as Fadiboy suggests, b/c the CD gets too hot, that's fine by me.
(I will also make a note as to how wrecked of a CD is in there. This morning I have to admit, it's a pretty wrecked CD, my at least 10 year-old Appetite for Destruction).
Another issue I have had is when you go to use the round knob to change track. You are on track 7 and you turn it one click to go to add....and the damn thing jumps back to track 3 or jumps forward to track 17!
+ 1 on that! The user friendliness of the stereo, etc., is not one of the Cayman's pluses.
Oh well, not that it matters anyway, I guess. If I wanted a good sound system (along withdriver isolation)I would've bought a Lexus.
Igot the CD STOP messageonce, and my car is not even a month old. I had to eject the disc to get it going again. Not enough for me to bring to the dealer (not yet anyways).
