CD players on Porsche

I am wondering if anyone has the same feeling as me. I have a Cayman S about 3 weeks old and my mom has a Cayenne. Both of the cars are excellent is performance and handling, but not the audio equipment. Both of the cars have standard In-dash CD player. Sometimes, the CD player just doesn't work. Either it couldn't play or no response. After you leave it off for a while and turn it back on, they work fine again. This is very irratating. I was planning to bring back to the dealership and have it fix, but the CD player is always working when I bring to the dealership. I couldn't show them the problem.

I had a Cayenne for the day when my Cayman at the dealer this week. Oh dear..what an awful ride the Cayenne with steel suspension has and yes the CD was no better than theCayman. At least on the Cayman you have engine to listen too

I concur the Cayenne is no good without PASM and the air suspension; it makes the ride very comfortable for long trips. Also, the Cayenne S should have the bose system regardless of headunit with the enclosed sub in the spare tire well. It is a much better system than the standard Cayman system and the Cayman bose system, but mainly because of the better imaging in the bigger car. I am currently in the middle of experimenting with my own sound system, keeping the head unit but introducing new amplification and better bass. I'm hoping to achieve better sound when the volume is turned up, in the 20-30 range.

Now as far as the cd drive is concerned, the Cayenne's have a cdr-23, and the Cayman the cdr-24; they units are identical but the cdr-24 is a "double width" unit, according to Porsche's specifications. If you have constant problems with the cd player, have the dealer replace it under warranty, it could be a lemon. However, in my case the PCM 2 cd drive fails to read cd's just as commonly as my cdr-24 drive.
