Did you pull off the rear portion of the skid plate to see where the oil was coming from? I have an 07 and just noticed the skid plate a little wet in the rear, pulled it off, and seen the area around and on the drain plug wet with fresh looking oil (small wet area but not dripping). Was this similar to your problem?

Had rattling sound from roof. Fixed under warranty. Also they fixed the thumping noise over bump issue (under warranty). On the invoice it said: Found rubber snubs on rear hatch loose - adjust snubs.

problems

Three main problems:

Random driver side window lowering when using the key fob to unlock the doors/open the front or rear trunk. Window would not return to closed position automatically. Dealer "re-learned" the window motor, which fixed about 95% of the problem (window still does not return to closure from the normal drop position).

Rattle of the rear window surround.

Oily streak on driver's window.

11186 miles since 8 Jul. Even with all the problems, I absolutely love the car

have your dealer replace the window regulator and motor.

Let's see I've had:

1) Intake lifter on passenger side of engine
2) exhaust manifolds with cats replaced
3) new windshield

I think that's it as far as I can remember off hand anyway...

Thanks. The dealer mentioned that as the next step. It seems to be a cold weather problem and has not been doing it since the weather has been a little warmer...

I now have a bit over 16,000 miles on the car. So far no problems or warranty issues. I changed the oil at 2500 and again at around 12,500.

That's it.

2007 Cayman S 13,000km
1. Rear hatch clunk (not fixed, will take it for redo)
2. Driver seat loose (not fixed, will take it for redo)
3. Gas pedal loose at the bottom (will take it to service)
4. Front main lights too high (will take it to service)
5. Rear center brake light trim got loose (fixed under warranty)
6. Clutch smell and rough engagement at high RPM (will take it to service)

I STILL like the car very much.

Update 19/9/07
1. The dealer fixed the rear hatch clunk after I printed the relevant article from this great forum and provided it to them. However, there is now a new noise coming from the rear hatch, it seems that they did not follow the instructions carefully and use felt for the clips.
2. The driver seat problem is still here, I am trying to adapt and get used to it.
3. A new gas pedal was installed by the dealer, but unfortunately it got loose again. This is very disappointing. Will go for a redo.
4. The dealer realigned the front head lights, but they now seem to be aimed too low.
5. The dealer claims that they changed the master and slave cylinders to fix the clutch problem. However, when I tested the car I found that the problem is still there. The person in charge at the dealer insisted that the clutch is operating fine. So, again I am trying to adapt and get used to the clutch as it is. Disappointed, yes of course. Mileage is now about km 23,000 and clutch is still working like when I had km 13,000 on the car. So the problem did not get worse, is this a positive thing? May be.

By the way, I once met another Cayman owner at the service center, and he told me he only brings his car to service when it is absolutely necessary as he is afraid they might damage his car. This dealer here in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (where I live) is notorious for it's very poor service. Listen to this, in my last oil change they actually over-filled the engine oil, and the person in charge tried to convince me that the oil will come down to normal level in a couple of days! I refused to receive the car unless they drain the oil and bring it to the normal level, which they then did. They did not even apologize for their mistake! How is that?

If anyone knows a proper Porsche e-mail that I can send my complaints to, kindly provide it to me.

I STILL like the car very much.

1. Engine bay fan (officially "Discharge Fan") rattled under braking..dealer adjusted the fan shroud with noquestions - took 15 minutes -

2. Need to check on Bose CD STOP message based on other mention here.

3. Have noticed slight (very slight) rear hatch "clunk" that is well noted here.

Otherwise the car is amazing and feels like a bargain for what you get!
