Weird sound from tranny area only when the engine is still cold.

I have a CS with 2100 miles on it (2 full months of ownership). CS has manual transmission.
Whenever it is below freezing, the engine temp is not showing 100 yet, and I am making 90 degree turn (like at intersection of the streets) I hear a sound from the area where transmission that sounds like as if some cables or something else is hitting some part of the body of the car. Sound is coming from the area in the middle behind the seats.

It goes away once the engine is warmed up.

Any ideas what it could be?

Aps,

No idea what it could be (i'm sure someone will chime in).

But I can say that as we experience similar weather conditions I know for sure that what you are experiencing does not sound "normal" and that I have had no experience of this happening with mine.

Take it in to the dealer just in case to be sure.

ps: Will you be around for a Cayman Club Spring Meet to start the season in April sometime?

My dealer tech seems to think it could be cold powersteering pump being stressed, since the fluid is very thick in cold state. I got to figure out how soon I can bring it to them, since weather is getting warmer here.

P.S. How awesome is it when the sales guy (Faris at Porsche Exchange) gets back to you with the answer from his tech in less than 20 minutes. I only wish my Dodge dealer was like that

If Porsche Tech is right, then the steering pump works marginally at best. i believe that Porsche uses full syn powersteering fluid. The cold temp has little effect on the viscosity of the fluid. Does the noise mph or rmp depedent? When I first read your top post, I though it was CV joint. HTH.
