Hi All,
Greetings from Hong Kong!
It's been a long, long 6 month wait (ordered Oct 3 last year) and finally picked my Cayman S up today. I must start by thanking members of this board - a few of the options I chose was a result of studying feedback from various users.
The obligatory specs are as follows:
- GT Silver (acknowledge it is a lot to spend on paint, but the results appear well worth it!)
- 6 speed manual (actually very rare in HK - most owners buy Tiptronic)
-
PASM (got it in order to enjoy 'normal mode', won't be using much of 'sport')
-
Sport Chrono (got it because I wanted an option for sharper throttle response, won't be using the timer much)
- Exhaust end pipe in Chrome
- 19" Carrera Sport wheels painted in GT Silver
- Adaptive sport seats
- Black full leather
- Rear center console covered with interior color leather
- Instrument surround in interior color leather
- Door finishers in interior color leather
- Thicker 3 spoke sports steering wheel
- Interior package A-pillar leather
- Bose sound system
- Factory Sport shifter (n/c - courtesy of dealer)
The car does look stunning and is everything I hoped it would be so far. Initial impressions are that it feels far more 'focused' than my previous E46 M3 and delivers a higher level of driving satisfaction - which is really why I chose this car.
I'm not overly concerned how it performs on the absolute limit as I probably won't be driving this car on the track (got something else for that purpose)
You guys might think I'm crazy but I never even test drove the car before buying; there were no 6 speed versions available in HK for test drive at the time. But reading the 5 star reviews in EVO UK and watching the video of Best Motoring's Tsuchiya Keiichi testing the CS around the Streets of Willow was enough to convince me
Will follow up with pics as soon as I can.
Best,
JonH

PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
|
 |
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.
