After a month of lurking here and shopping, I finally took the plunge. My wife still can't accept that we're buying a car for more than $53K and it doesn't come with ipod integration.
Specs (off the shelf):
base cayman arctic silver with black interior
tiptronic
xenon headlamps
bose
power seats with memory
heated seats
auto-climate
floor mats
sticker with destination: $59545
out the door @ $53500 plus tax and title
I'm still reducing my post-purch. dissonance. Did I get a good deal?
Ahhh... 3 more sleepless nights.
I've upgraded all my previous car's sounds with new head units, amps, subs and component speakers but they had brands like ford, honda, chrysler. This is my first lux/performance ride and i don't want to butcher it. If I had the guts to, i would definitely stick with stock and upgrade everything myself.
You're right...you don't want to butcher it. You want to mod it tastefully. I always love how some people say "You can't change this/that on a X car".....why not? It's a car. I say, as long as it looks like it came with the car....it's fine! No matter what kind of car it is! I will guarantee you this though, especially if you "upgraded all of your other cars' stereos".....you WILL hate Bose. When you do...it's gonna be a HELL of a time doing something about it (from what I hear). As a matter of fact, I don't think anyone on this board has even done it yet! Now if you go for non-bose you can do this:
Holy **** TresX! Did you take it to pimp my ride? That looks reaaally sweet. Maybe after 2 years, I will have less respect for my cayman and start taking it apart....gently
Um....I think you're a little confused. What I'm saying is....Bose will do nothing for you because it's still fed a signal through your soon to be CDR-24. This fine piece of electronic technology prevails from Germany, under the name Becker and BLOWS ***! If you want to get rid of it....having Bose will cause a lot of grief! But if your deal is done, don't worry...I'm sure someone will figure it out sooner or later.

No, not confused. I understand what ur saying. Its just that seeing an alpine headunit in place of the stock stuff made me wonder what other equipment besides the head unit u replaced.
Oh...well...if you're wondering where to fit everything else...check out thenewguy's system. He has a custom box in the rear and a false floor that hides his Alpine amp up front.
