Another new member

Hello everyone:

A while back I spotted a Cayman in my office parking lot and became infatuated with the car. I researched the car on the Internet and became committed to getting one after a test drive. I did not want to make a hasty decision so I have been "lurking" on the caymanclub site for the last two months reading member posts and articles. Two weeks ago I decided to take the plunge and purchased a Black/Black Cayman S from dealer stock. Options included Preferred Package Plus, PCM 2.1, Automatic Climate Control, and 3M clear bra. I also ordered a Tubi exhaust system that the dealer will install once it is shipped from back-order.

I could not be happier with the car, but I do find that I have been obsessively cleaning and waxing the car. I also find myself standing around staring at my car – is this common among Cayman owners? My wife keeps laughing at me every time I put on another coat of wax. The black looks amazing after a couple coats of Zano but fingerprints really show so I keep a small cotton cloth with me to clean the smudges. I assume this obsessive behavior will subside after a few months?

Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone for their contributions and I look forward to being part of your group.

Regards,

John

Welcome, John! I have bad news for you... there is no cure for your affliction... I suffer from it too... although maybe not as badly as you since white is a little easier to keep clean and shiny than black is!

I must admit that sometimes I avoid taking my car out for a drive because it's clean and shiny and won't stay that way! How dumb is that?!! Then I remind myself how much fun it is to drive... and that I'll get to clean and wax it again when I get home.

Yes, it is an obsession... or maybe a disease... affecting normal behavior and judgement.

Enjoy your new car and let your wife laugh!

Congrats on the new car! Regarding the obsessive behavior, I hate to tell you this, but only gets worse! I've had my CS since January and I wax it constantly. The next thing you're going to notice is all the attention the car gets, heads will turn and people on a daily basis will compliment you on the "amazing" car. If I go one day without a some sort of "comment" or "thumbs up" it means I never left the house that day. Enjoy it!

Congrats on the new car! Begin apolgizing to your wife now, because the obsessing doesn't go away. Soon she will be jealous. My girlfriend teases me once in awhile about how much time I spend cleaning the CS, I told her that if, like the CS, she couldn't clean herself, I'd be more then happy to help her out just as much.

Porsche Logo Congratulations!

Congratulations and welcome to the CaymanClub jcriggs! The dream of owning my first Porsche Cayman S is a long way off, but I, as well as you, find my self obsessed with this vehicle. I view the car as a piece of artwork; something that’s moving 100-miles per hour while it’s parked quietly inside a garage. Enjoy, and please post a few pictures as soon as humanly possibly.
