After finding this site I became really interested in the Cayman. Unfortunately being in europe for last 9 mths made it kind of difficult to get a propper test drive and get an order together, so I've had to cool my heals until getting home...
Only there were no red caymans available in Perth. So, I flew over to Melbourne last week for a test drive of a GR Cayman. Absolutely loved it! Although it suffered a bit from boom especially on the concrete road outside the dealer's.
Then I really had some good luck. The local dealer in Perth was able to tighten down the hatch and eliminate the boom on his silver demonstrater (no-
pasm, 19" wheels). Best of all he tracked down a brand new red car destined for the Sydney motor show.
This caused me a little agony deciding if I should save the Aus$30K (US$26K) and buy the Melbourne car, or get the brand new one. The Melbourne car is used for the press, so as much as it hurts I decided to go with the 0km car.
Did the deal yesterday. The new car is on it's way over the nullabor and gets here in three weeks.
Noting Saint Etienne's prod for specs here they are:
* 07 Cayman S Guards red with black interior
* Sport Shifter
* Sports seats leather (with headcrest)
* Thicker three-spoke sports steering wheel in smooth leather
* 19" Carrera Classic (with coloured crests)
* Carbon interior package
* Painted spoiler lip
* Park assist
and when it gets here I'm fitting Bilstein PSS9 coil-overs
If I had been able to order last year I would have done a few things differently, but I'd much rather have this car now then wait 6 months for a custom order.
Now the clock starts. Thank god there's cayman club to keep me sane while I wait.

PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
|
 |
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.
