My dealer just sent me this picture of the new sport seats. I will get them for my car if it works with my build date. Enjoy!!
Text:
For the first time in North America, for MY2008 Porsche will offer a lightweight racing-style sports bucket seat in leather.
This seat is optimally shaped for use in highly dynamic driving situations, with a high degree of lateral support not only in the hip area, but also in the backrest. Yet it is offered in all available leather colors, and incorporates a thorax airbag integrated in the outer side of the backrest. Apertures for six-point seat belts permit use of competition-type seatbelts for off-highway use such as club driving events.
Through the use fiberglass and carbon-fiber, the new sports seat weighs in at 15-20 pounds (7-9 kg) less per seat than the current Porsche adaptive sports seat.
A folding backrest allows the rear seats of 911 models to be used normally.
This seat is expected to be available no earlier than November of 2007, and will not be offered for the 911 GT3/911 GT3 RS models, due to the short remaining production period of that vehicle.

Is there any info re: weight? I.e., how much weight savings is there compared to the manual sport seats or to GT3 seats? The adaptive sports seats weigh a ton.
So, it's just a folding seat (for rear access) rather than a 'reclining' seat? If so, then I may not be interested.
Good point. I'm less interested if they don't recline, esp. in a two-seater. The choice in leather options is a nice bonus. I guess it comes down to $$$.

Unfortunately that is the only information they had at this time. They also don't know if available by Nov means ordering in Nov or having your car built in Nov. The dealer said that their configurator is starting to show '08 cars so the general public configurator should be up soon.
I’m not sure I would be able to walk after spending any length of time in a seat that looks that uncomfortable rocket. Please tell me there is some comfort level with those.

Sports seats with thorax airbag... man that is the only time I wish I did not get MY07.
Thinner seat would provide more leg room for my tall a$$. There is not much (if any) reclining that my seats gets to do. It is all the way to the back.
