CS delivery update

I was in NJ this weekend for a family wedding (I live in NC, but ordered my CS through a friend of the family up there) and spoke to my dealer about the status of my order, which I placed back in mid-September.

He was able to tell me the build date is set for December 7th (a date which will live in infamy!) with an expected delivery date of the last week of December or the first week of January.

Any suggestions for how to pass the time until then?!?! (Other than spending way too much time cruising this great board?) I'm already considering which accessories or mods I need to buy and have waiting upon delivery...

I can hardly wait to start driving!

Good looking car Pete!

My build will be in January. I'm having fun getting things in advance. I already have:

Foglight spears painted black
Clear Side Markers
Yellow P key fob
Set of Rennline pedals

Of course once it arrives I'll still have to wait a month for the snow to melt before dirveing it!

I have an early January build date for my Cayman. This is the first time in 6-1/2 years I have been Porscheless and it is driving me crazy. I'm preparing my pre-delivery shopping list now. So far it includes:
Lloyd's mats (Black with red Porsche lettering)
Clear corners
Red taillights (should look nice with Ruby Red)
and an RS Spyder fleece to keep me warm while I wait!
Oh, and maybe a spare tire, too.

I have a Meteor Grey/Black Full Leather CS that was built around November 5 that I am expecting mid to late December. I believe it takes these cars about 6 weeks to travel from the plant to most dealers. I don't know how the railroad strike and holidays will ultimately delay any of us.

One thing you guys have to worry about with these Dec/Jan deliveries....is the fact that the Porsche factories take at least a few weeks off during the month of December/January and literally close down......and that will sometimes play havoc with cars being produced or shipped in these months. Another issue is whether or not your car has any "Exclusive" items......such as painted interior parts, special leather bits, etc. I found out the hard way that the exclusive guys tend to take even more time off which can mean further delays in delivery.

My CS was produced early Dec '05 and then sat waiting for the exclusive guys to get back from sabbatical in order for it to be finished and shipped. All said and done, my very early Jan delivery date turned into a 2nd week of Feb delivery date. I tell you I nearly had a cow in that timeframe!

Anyway just preparing you.....it's not uncommon for Dec/Jan builds and shippings to be skewed or delayed a bit......just what you wanted to hear

Mate - I hope you go through less pain than I am going through - my car has been ready at the dealer for nearly 3 weeks now but thanks to the banks and the process you have to go through here in Dubai, it's just sitting there

If there is a god then he's having a huge laugh at my expense.

Found out today that the registration department has made a mistake and it's going to be delayed by another 4 working days.

I'm past caring now - I really am.

It's so very tedious.

Pete forgot one other thing to do, dream about it. That's all I did while I was in Yellowstone running from Elk.

Yeah, I've had it in my mind I wouldn't see my car until the end of January at least, but for the time being the dealer is more optimistic. I'm guessing by the middle of December I'll know more one way or the other.

Thanks for the reality check - and to everyone else for the suggestions!

Mike

Finaly had mine delivered on Saturday - so worth the wait - be patient mate - are there any Porsche days coming up near you? Go and get a blast.
