Well, for any of you following my Tourist Delivery story two weeks down and only 4-6 weeks more to go until my Cayman S gets back to the States. This has truly been the longest two weeks of my life. I hope I can make it a few more.
I was so Cayman sick yesterday that I went down to my local dealer to look at the Caymans in stock. I saw on the website where they actually had a Porsche Cayman S Design Edition 1 in stock, so I wanted to check it out in person. Pretty cool, but I like mine better
i seriously doubt that i'll ever have the opportunity you obviously enjoyed. thanks for sharing the trip and those photos. good luck with your new cayman.

Great story! I'd love to get a European delivery for my next Cayman, the one with direct injection and PDK, etc. Unfortunately, my wife wants to go to Italy, but I can't afford any car there worth having... or that I'd really want.

Great story - thanks for sharing! My wife and I have considered ED for our next purchase and I think you just sealed the deal with your note and photo essay.

Seamus - I have a solution to your problem. Pick up your European Delivery Cayman in Stuttgart, then drive it to Italy. You'd pass some amazing scenery through the Alps, then you can even drop your car off in Italy (Rome or Milan) to have it shipped back to the states when you are finished with your trip.
Is there any price break when doing Euro Delivery?
No...in typical Porsche fashion, they charge more for the pleasure! But it is a pleasure. The memories of your trip will come flooding back every time you drive the car. It is a truely spectacular way to see Europe.
I got some exciting news this morning regarding the estimated arrival date on my Cayman S. After three weeks of patiently waiting with no news, I was finally able to find out the shipping vessel and estimated arrival date in the Port of San Diego. It's expected to arrive in San Diego on July 14. Hopefully it will only take a few more days to make it over to my dealer in Arizona. It appears the end may be in sight!
Here's a picture of the shipping vessel. My car is on there somewhere!
On another note, I hope my Cayman S gets here soon before I go broke. These past three weeks I have spent well over $1000 in preparation for my new arrival. I've been working on my garage putting down epoxy floor coating, painting the walls and ceiling ultra white, buying car covers, sun shields, a new wash bucket, car wash soap, microfiber towels, Zymol Glasur carnub wax, etc, etc, etc. Pretty exciting for me as this is my first Porsche.
Here's a picture of my garage just waiting for the new arrival!
