The European DVD for the navigation system was a "loaned copy" from Porsche. My car came with the North American DVD, but they swapped it out for the European one. When I returned my car for shipment to the States, they swapped the DVDs out putting my original North American one back in. I asked them if I could keep the European DVD, but they said "no, it was just a loaner but I could buy one if I needed it." I guess I don't really need it, just would have been a cool souvenir.

The Conclusion of my Tourist Delivery Story

Well, the moment I have been waiting for the last couple weeks finally arrived. My Cayman S made it back from Germany to my dealer. I took delivery yesterday at 1pm and didn't stop driving until 1am. I used up a whole tank of gas driving around, I was so excited to have it back!

During the course of the last few weeks, I started to wonder if Tourist Delivery was the right choice. I had tons of fun at the factory and driving in Germany, but waiting seven weeks to drive my car again was the longest wait of my life. I started to wonder if maybe I should have just gone to Germany on one of the Porsche tours and driven a Porsche rental around for the experience.

Seeing my car again was unbelieveable. I sat in the drivers seat, turned the ignition and all the wonderful memories of Tourist Delivery came flooding back to me when the engine came alive. It was at that moment I knew for sure the wait was worth it.

The drive home was amazing. I couldn't stop thinking about how I was driving this car in Germany and now I am driving it home! It's definitely something I will never forget and be reminded of daily.

Thanks for everybody's encouraging words and support helping me through the long wait.

As promised, here are a few pics of my car home in my garage:

And here it is in the showroom at my dealer:

One final note. Of course it had to rain on me while I was out driving yesterday, so this morning it was time to give my Cayman S a bath. Besides, I wanted to put my Zymol Glasur wax to good use.

Check out the final results after the hand application of the Zymol! I couldn't believe it. The shine on my car is beyond words. I hope these pictures give a glimpse of how amazing my car looks.

Thanks for reading. I gotta go for another drive now! See you on the streets!

Just a quick "dumb" question... I don't see much about how much time exactly you spent in Germany. It seems like 2 days based on the writing but I'm unsure. 2 days would be much too quick of a trip for me, but just "wondering".

Not a "dumb" question at all. I was in Germany for just under two weeks. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. During Tourist Delivery you are provided as part of the program two weeks registration and insurance. I think you can pay extra and extend that if you want to, but two weeks was just about perfect for me.

Congrats. I too wondered if I had done the right thing, during my wait to be reunited with my CS. But now that you have your car back memory of the wait will fade and it will seem insignificant in your memory.

I am really happy I did tourist delivery. It was great to experience 165 mph legally. I have so many incredible memories of the experience and it's fun to tell people here in America that I drove that car on the German autobahn.
