Great forum - very useful info and a nice friendly feel.
Cayman S been on order for a month or so now, due to arrive in March on the 07 plate (UK). Gone for metior grey with 19" wheels, the carrera classic 5 spokes, and PASM. Can't wait
Should make a nice stable mate for the Elise
Looking forward to getting involved... just have to resist modifications!
Steve
PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.

I think you'll find a ton of usefull reading and lots of freindly enthusiastic owners here.
By the way, if you can successfully resist the mods and accessories discussed here, then you deserve a medal.... We'll have to talk to K-Man S about creating one for this....
Steve,
I think someone posted a message about 6 months ago which we ought to add to the FAQ about things to do while waiting for your Cayman arrive. Perhaps Santa Fe the search wizard can help locate that topic again and bring it to light for you. Some good stuff in there as I recall!
Not driven too far yet... work comitments and pretty rubbish weather here. Hopefully get some miles in this week.
As always with something new, someone has to dirty it for you... somewhere about 40miles out of the show room and less than 24 hours old, some plonka of a kid decided to pass traffic traveling head on toward me crossing the dirty road centre and sure enough a crack in the screen At least it missed the paint work
It was going to happen, so off with the cotton wool and just enjoy it me thinks
As soon as get chance Was planning on getting the Cayman to a decent location for a shoot Saturday but then the windscreen clonk kinda knocked it out of me.
The Elise is minus an engine at the moment getting ready for the TD season. As soon as it's together (this month I hope) I'll do a photo shoot
"Hello" to all aswell. I have been lurking here for the past few months, and now I am on the eve of Cayman ownership, I thought that I would officially sign in.
I want to thank all the members here for posting such varied and completly throuogh topics and subjects. It has led me to stay up until the wee hours of the morning just to find out how to de-snork and change my air filter. Topics that I did not even know existed a few months ago.
Again, a big thank you to everyone, and I hope that I did not "derail" Stevemcc's orginal post.
Steve, sorry to hear that. But it the first "bite" is over anyway. I had a 928 that didn't surive a mile before a large rock took out a gash in the hood so I understand the pain.
