Dynoed my 2.7 today

2.7 motor

HP 195.62
Torque 184

This is to the rear wheels.

Whats the real number in crank HP and torque?

According to the guy at the dyno 225 HP
and 198 torque.
pretty low Inumbers I think.....Its meant to be 240 HP and 201 torque.

Conditionds: 4,400 ft elevation
Fuel 89 octane
Mileage of the Car 8,500

I will put a AWE ehaust
Evo intake and dyno again.
Then a Giac chip and Dyno again.

I hope for the elevation and type of fuel I ran this mods will help.

I'll have to go check the manuel, but I assumed that both engines should be fed nothing but 92-94 octane...?

After that I'd say the elevation would be an issue, and then someone a LOT smarter than me would need to make the call if the combo of these two would be greater than either alone, and/or this combo would account for the delta in output....me little mind tinks so.

Finally, air temp can also play a big role...cold air = heavy (good) air, hot air not so much and power goes down.

This was already with Prestone 0 to 60 octane booster
And that is our best fuel in Costa Rica

I was thinking of adding this.

Accelerator - Unleaded Fuel Concentrate - 32oz.

Half a bottle per tank, that might raised to 93 octane

Any danger to the motor if I use this regularly??

Corrected for elevation, it should be around 205-210 hp. However, the dyno might run "low" in it's measurements with an improper baseline calibration. What dyno was used?

I don't think 89 octane would make that much difference, but are you sure the 89 is truly 89?

Seems to be a general consensus on past threads that octane additives are not all they are advertised to be and caution is advised.

The main validation will be to measure deltas in hp numbers when adding the mods. Absolute numbers are always suspect due to the many factors involved with measuring and correcting dynos.

The higher the altitude above sea level, the lower the octane requirement. Modern computer-controlled engines adjust spark timing and air-fuel ratio to compensate for changes in barometric pressure, and thus the effect of altitude on octane requirement is smaller in these vehicles.

For more info, look at the altitude section at A Consumer's Guide:
Gasoline Octane for Cars

I find that this is a good source for reliable dyno data for comparison putposes.
