Well, call Greg at RSS tomorrow and see what he has to say...

Gilles, see if you can do it on a Dyno Dynamics machine in the Porsche shootout mode (P1) for best accurate results.

I know some people like Mustang dynos and Dynojet but the tuner said they all read high. He called them "Hollywood Dynos". Well that was his comment, valid or not beats me.

Go here to find a Dyno Dynamics machine in your area:

By the way the "shoot out mode" dyno is supposed to the worlds most accurate (requires certification, testing and more) but I'm not I've seen it outside of Australia. Anyone seen this certification in the US?

Tube mod

With my install we had rotate the tube ends and bend the angle by about 5 degrees. 22mm was also removed from the narrow end.
You can see the mismatch in the tube printing.

Here is a close up. Only one clamp shown. Ignore the part black paint on the metal tube.

4by4,

You mentioned that you needed to fabricate a metal tube which, If I understand correctly, you inserted to re-connect the rubber hose again after cutting it. The idea is to let you swivel the 2 ends to make them fit. Doesn't the metal tube itself introduce a restriction to the air flow inside the hose, hence canceling out any gains from the larger bore plenum? The metal tube presents a shoulder or profile inside the hose which interferes with the air flow in terms of volume and perhaps even introducing turbulence. Just wondering!

zal, in principle yes, but I expect it to be very small. The tube is a bit bigger than the tube ID and the the wall thickness is only about 1mm so its not very significant. Dont forget there are small ridges anyway where the tube connects to the TB. I would like to replace this assembly with a better tube that fits correctly and is not so soft. Waiting to see if IPD come up with something better.
Anyway the Plenum is not that perfect. At the junction point inside there are 2 holes and a cutaway, presumably from the mold tool. Ideally they should not be there.

Hello 4by4,

I think your presumption about un-ideal design and the two holes inside the plenum is incorrect. There are indeed two holes bored through the septum that is cast into the IPD plenum's body. The septum is present to induce equal flow to each half (left and right) of the manifold while the two holes in the septum are present to allow pressure balance between the two flows!

Regards,
Joe

The distance between those points is very short. I dont expect any significant pressure difference, but I would be worried if the balance at the left / right side of the engine was not the same. How about the the flat bit on the septum, this would tubulate the air at that point (very small).

I agree with you , as far as this cars results. However we should just find out what the next pull is. I would expect it to be less or the same if done correctly. They most likely made a mistake on the original pull. Would you agree? All stock CaymanS cars should pull in the 260's and if not there is an error somewhere.
