IDP Plenum Dyno Chart Attached

Attached is the dyno chart for the IDP Plenum install on my CS. The top line on both read-outs is the dyno run with the Plenum installed. The one below is on my completely stock CS.

I seem to recall Ken explaining that data below 3000 rpm is unreliable. So is the +30 ft-lb at low rpm just a data glitch, and not real? That would be my guess...

Another Dyno Run for a "Bone Stock" Cayman S

Greetings Again Cayman Clubbers,

After all the recent debates and requests we have dynoed a "Bone Stock" Cayman S with the IPD plenum. The Cayman was donated by a Club member with him being present throughout the dyno sessions.

We have first noticed that everyone is claiming different base line hp and torque figures which is making it difficult to gauge actual gains. All of our initial testing was performed on our house Cayman S which was ONLY de-snorked and had a Cat Back Cargraphic Muffler system installed. Our initial base line only registered 257.33 at 100 degree temps. The new base line registered an average of 268.39 at 74.36 degrees. We are getting such a wide variety of hp and torque claims due to different mods, different dynos, different air temps, etc. that we are trying to find a common denominator.

Below is our most recent dyno test (Nov. 3rd and Nov 6th) sessions where we installed an IPD plenum on a completely "Bone Stock" Cayman S. We found that the baseline numbers were slightly higher than the claimed factory output of 260 to 265. We have also found that as the baseline varies so does the hp gains provided by the IPD plenum.

Regardless, the gains from the IPD plenum have consistently provided hp and torque above the factory power curves throughout the rev range, while at the same time eliminated factory "dips" and providing a smoother and more linear power delivery. Although the debates continue the one common theme that remains is that customer are reporting lower lap times as well as an overall improved driving experience.

It appears that the plenum works VERY well with the Cargraphic exhaust. It's logical to assume that added intake air flow combined with added exhaust flow should be a complimentary modification. Let the debate begin.

NOTE: All of the RSS / IPD dyno tests were performed at the same location and the same dyno at GT Pro in Fullerton, California.

Thanks again to everyone for their continued consideration and support.

Cheers,
Greg

Result

If my car would be stock and delivery such good HP already and I could add the above proven HP/Torque, I would do it in a heartbeat. Looks good enough for my taste.

Since I already have the IPD plenum for 3 months now without any issues, needless to say I am a happy camper already

my IPD plennum impressions

ok, the bone stock car used on the test was mine.

I don't know where to start describing the changes but I guess that the first word that comes to my mind is smoothness, then a more linear power delivery, IMHO the plennum changes the way the engine delivers the power.

However, when you push hard the gas pedal you get great acceleration, it feels that the engine breathes much easier and sounds better too!

Now I am looking forward to compliment the plennum with a better air filter and a free flow exhaust.

I waited a few days after installing the plennum to write my impressions, because I wanted to have a chance to drive the car in different scenarios and not just during hard acceleration, but also during the every day stop and go traffic (which we have plenty in So.Cal)

First I was a little concerned about loosing some torque on the lower rpm range but this evening I was driving around on the shopping center parking lot on second gear and was able to accelerate easy and smoothly from below 2K rpm without any drama.

Overall, I am really happy with the results and the guys at GT Pro made it a very nice experience, thank you!

Gilles,

What kind of hit are you taking on MPG? Is it drastically noticeable?

Considering the RSS IPD Plenum? Well I can say without any reservation that this is the most cost effective performance modification that I have made so far on my CS. The improved throttle response at all RPMs and the quicker revving/HP development really makes this engine come alive!

I'm now excitedly anticipating APR's release of their IPD Plenum-specific software flash that will fully utilize the new intake efficiency of the IPD plenum.

Regards,
Joe
