Dension 500 + USB...

I just got my Dension 500 installed. It does seem to pull tracks down from the a USB device, but it doesn't seem to be reading ID3 tags. There is no ability to view by artist or album and when playing the track, it just shows the filename. I'm hoping that I am just missing a config setting as I was looking forward to using a thumb drive instead of an iPod. Does anyone know anything about this?

On the thumbstick drive I tried with MP3 files on it the track and artist and album information showed up. I burned the MP3's with Windows Media player.

I know that the ID3 tags are present on the MP3s. The MP3s I was testing have both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags. I can see them when I look at the files on my computer + when I burned them to a test CD (i.e. a MP3 CD) and played it in the Nav, the Title + Artist displayed.

Are you sure it was playing the track, artist, and album info and it just wasn't the name of the file?

For example:

FileName: 101-Fedde Le Grand_Put Your Hands Up For Detroit.mp3
ID3 Title: Put Your Hands Up for Detroit
ID3 Artist: Fedde Le Grand
ID3 Album: Ministry of Sound The Annual 2007

Well it took them one month and five days to respond, but they did:

HI, as you can find in the users manual too, the usb player of GW500 displays only the file names and directory names, not the ID3 TAG.
Thank you for your patience.
If you have got any further questions, please contact us again..

I just went back and rechecked mine with the USB drive because I thought it displayed each, it displays the track # but not the ID3 tag, I guess you have to go ipod for that. Any word on when they are going to release a newer ROM flash?

Dension 500-Ipod

Just got the device setup in my CS. Anyone know how I can have the ipod menu available as it is now frozen until I disconnect it from the Dension connection. I tried to enter the `menu' mentioned in their manual but it just launches me onto the radio.

It should take you back to the radio and then you have to press the CD button on the PCM to get into the actual set up. Make sure there's no actual cd in the drive or you will have to press the cd button twice.

I wrote them back to ask them about getting the Artist to appear when playing from the iPod. I'm very bummed that only the track title appears When playing MP3 CDs, you get both. Perhaps they will write me back in another month

The 2.00 SW will read ID3 tags on USB drive and builds an Artist/Album database from then, just like on iPod.
Once the database is completed it will display the ID3 tags instead of filenames.

Where's the Artist is displayed in case of MP3 CD's? Is it the Diskname field? Is it updated when you jump to a track which is from an other artist?

It has been a while, but as my memory serves each track displayed a seperate artist and title.

This is the first I've heard of a 2.0 SW. Is there any other information about it I can read up on??

If the orig CDC can display a separate Artist field, in theory the Gateway can do that also.

I guess not too much information is released about 2.00, yet. E.g. the sources can be selected freely (so you can charge your iPod while listening USB). It can control the bluetooth module etc.
