I have installed a PCM unit, thanks to the detailed instructions found here on this great forum, and it doesn't work as it supposed to. When I push the power button everything turns on and I get a message: no navigation, no phone and no amp. I understand that I don't have nav and phone right now but what about the amplifier? I think this is why I get no sound through the speakers. Help somebody...
PS: I don't have Bose.

Odd but it sounds like your car is programmed to think it has those items (including Bose) and thus reports them missing and sends no sound. A trip to the dealer to put the car on a PIWIS machine is likely in order.
PIWIS - Porsche Integrated Workshop Information System
Porsche Integrated Workshop Information System (diagnostic tester) This device is used to test various aspects of your Cayman's computer and electronic systems. These units cost over $12,000 to purchase and are connected to Porsche via a wireless connection at the dealership so that your Cayman's information can be sent to Porsche whenever your car is attached for diagnosis. The PIWIS device has the ability to control almost any system in your car provided that your car has the appropriate control units and programming installed. Your dealership may not perform some activities such as disabling safety equipment.

The system has to be entered into the MOST system and CAN to be operational. This is done with a PIWIS tester.

I have the same problem with my PCM and the dealer couldn't fix it. They said that the PCM was for a bose system, and since my car didn't have the bose system, they couldn't get the sound to work. All this after paying for 2 hours in labor charges, I have a PCM with no sound I guess I have to sell this unit to someone with a bose system now. Does this sound right to you guys?
I just plugged in my second aftermarket PCM unit and everything works as it was intended. Not only does the unit work but because I have Sport Chrono I now have access to all of the Sport Chrono plus features like DRL and automatic doorlocking and full lap timing.
I didn't do a thing other than plug it in. The first obviously came from a car without the sport chrono plus.

Sport Chrono and Chrono Plus
This optional package is a valuable addition for trackday use. Available in conjunction with the CDR-24 CD radio, it includes a swivel-mounted analog and digital timer unit which is centrally located on the dashboard. All functions are easily accessible via the control stalk for the on-board computer. Analog dials measure hours, minutes and seconds, while a separate digital field displays whole seconds, tenths and one hundredths of a second. A second digital display runs in parallel in the instrument cluster. Click this Link to visit the FAQ entry for Sport Chrono.
