Porsche Logo New Install w/ CDTAudio Components

Hello - I just picked up my Cayman a week ago...I upgraded the factory radio (basic CD-24) with the Pioneer Premier AVIC-F90BT using this forum to breeze through it, thanks for all of the great posts. I purchased the 2DIN Dash kit from Japan and the CAN-BUS adapter as well. Everything went great...all though I am still getting the error when in motion with the video and maps. I followed an AVIC411 forum post about moving the Mute wire up a notch and grounding it and the green parking break to ground, but something didn't work right. with a little more research, apparently this only works with the AVIC-D3, not the AVIC-F90BT...I need a kit in order to achieve this with the F90BT (unless someone knows a different way)? Well to the speaker issues...next I am moving to the speakers...using the previous posts (thanks again) I was able to get the appropriate sizes for the front and back. I have decided to go with CDTAudio ES-0642i GOLD (6.5", 4”, & 1" 3-way) system for the front, and the CDTAudio ES-42i GOLD (4”, & 1" 2-way) for the rears. Anyone see any potential problems with this configuration? I wanted to ask before buying since they are a nice chunk of change. I terms of an amp...I am leaning toward either the Alpine PDX-4.150 or the JLAudio HD600/4 - I like the small foot print and stack-ability of both of them in case I need to add another amp for an 8" sub. Anyone know anything good or bad about either of these units? I was also looking at the Alpine PDX-5, using the sub channel for the potential 8", but I was worried about it not being enough RMS power to push the CDTAudio's cleanly...??? I am hoping by using the sub-bass woofer (and the extra power) in the CDTAudio setup I will get enough bass without needing to add a subwoofer. If I go with a subwoofer I would put it in the back like in dreis44's custom install (looks great). As you can imagine, I am not looking forward to molding a fiberglass enclosure for it...but it does look great. Does anyone know of a post where they show how to remove the door panels, dash, and rear speakers? I will keep searching, but if you do, please point it out. Let me know if anyone has any thoughts or ideas ...thanks again for the great posts and all of the help.

CDTs are great speakers for reasonable price. Make sure depth of the speaker will be drop-in unless you want to customize it. I would only use front speakers not rears no need for stereo representation. If you can fit single 10" sub that would be great or 2x8". As far as amp goes there are zapco and arc audio absolutely awesome amps. I like jl and image dynamics subs. If you get those diagrams how to remove door panels please forward them to me too.

I've also been considering this mod using the new AVIC-F units with an Alpine PDX amp so I really appreciate the information you posted from your experience. Pictures and a how-to on dpoin the amp and speakers would be great. Where did you mount the mic for the hands-free?

I am on vacation right now...so I haven't done much more...but I did find out that there is no need for any Bypass Kit's just click here and it will take you to the forum at avic411.com and it is a matter of repositioning the mute wire to a different location on the plug, like the D series, but in a different location. I haven't mounted the mic yet, but I am thinking up into the visor without the giant clip they provided...I will post some pictures when I get this going a week or so.
