I thought X band radar was a thing of the past. During the last month, I have been hit with 3 X band warnings on my escort 9500. 2 on the interstate in NC and 1 in a rual area of SC.No doubt that these were cop cars. I almost ignored the first one but I had GPS -locked out all known threats in the area so I slowed down. Sure as heck- there he was. The GPS function saved my @ss because otherwise I would have ignored the warning as a door opener or an alarm.

At ESCORT, we're continually improving our line of radar and laser detectors with the best technology. Our latest invention, the GPS-powered PASSPORT 9500ix, is no exception. It provides the best long-range protection against every known radar and laser gun in use in North America, but also incorporates GPS accuracy to silence each and every false alert. It is by far the most intelligent, fully automatic radar and laser detector ever designed. You drive. It learns. End of story. http://www.escortradar.com
Wow..... Thanks for sharing. I have my X band turned off completely..... But I am in CT and drove around for more than 6 months and never saw a single X band speed trap.

I have also seen other suspected examples of X band radar. I think some of the small towns with limited budgets may still be running the older x band stuff. The one who almost got me was in a brand spanking new ford explorer. I know that is is the case because I have seen the same car 2 times.I would think that this varies by state but I am taking no chances.

I've had X band off for prob. 5 years w/ no problems. I'll take that chance - a ticket would be worth all the hassle of false X band alarms I've saved.

I can confirm that many of the rural Sheriffs in Arizona still use X-Band, but I've never encountered one in any suburban or urban areas, so the "City No X" would seem ok in the cities, but watch out when you're out in the country. I keep my SRX on "City No X" and my Valentine 1 on "L"....
Today I was driving home on I-77 and I got hit by a direct- full force- instant on X band signal!!!!! I swear I am not kidding. Is there such a thing? No warning whatsoever. Pegged the meter on my 9500 just like a KA signal. I could not look around due to heavy traffic. No homes or businesses nearby so it almost had to be a cop. I have never heard of such a thing. I plan to call Escort and talk to some local cop buddies. What the ^#$&??????????
