I have a 2006 Cayman-S with 28,000 miles. I recently had a "Check Right Brake Light" warning message appear on the center console. Sure enough, the bulb had a broken filament. I replaced the bulb, the brake light now works, but the error warning message continues to appear on engine start-up. Easy enough to acknowledge the message by moving the lever on the left side of the steering column, but I am tired of looking at the red exclamation mark which remains in the center console display. Is there a message reset that I am not aware of, or does the persistence of the warning suggest there is an electrical issue?
I am actually having this same issue. I got the bulb, replaced it fine, but still get the warning message displaying. Does anyone know how to clear this message? Does it just not like the bulb I replaced it with?
Did you replace it with a random bulb or a bulb from Porsche?
I'd guess that the Porsche bulb is rated for some certain amount of current when it goes on. If you new bulb draws less current, the computer registers that as a burnt bulb. This is a complete guess, though...I have no idea how it works.
well I had the same prob, but the message disappeared when I fitted a new bulb. Check the one u got, because the Porsche bulb is 4w, the most common is 5w, so that may be causing the problem!

A good car will get you from point A to point B. A great car... will just get you into trouble!
I am having the same problem except on the left hand side, 2007 car with 13k miles,
However, when i went and changed the bulb it turned out to be in good condition, but i changed it anyway, when i changed it the signal on the dash stayed the same and the bulb didnt work attall, this is now bugging me as it has been a few weeks and when a brake light doesnt work it makes the car feel cheap!!!
Any suggestions, i dont have time to go to the dealer at the moment!!!

try removing the bulb from the right side and inserting it in the left side and vice versa, I did that to check whether the problem was the bulb or something else. When I put the left side (supposedly damaged) bulb into the right, it gave me the same message but for the right side, and the left side now lit up well. So I concluded it was the bulb, changed it and all was well

Wow... What a coincidence. I had my right brake light go at 13,000 miles.
I went to the parts store and used their book to find the replacement. I just looked up 2007 Cayman S. I went home to replace it, I had the wrong darn bulb... So, I went back, took the burnt bulb with me this time, and I was able to find the exact same bulb using the number that was stamped on it. It was an Osram 2775. I found a Sylvania 2775 that looked identical. I popped it in (in the parking lot), I still got the warning, I pressed the brake, then turned the key off, then back on and the warning was gone.
It was kind of cool that the car told me that I had a brake light that was out, but it was kind of strange that it burnt out so early....?...
No big deal. It was a $6 fix. I bought 4 bulbs. I'll throw the others in my track bag because I'm fairly certain that if that bulb had gone out while I was on the track (just a week prior) they would have probably black flagged me.

Obviously, you use the brakes, too much. You'll fix that the more DEs you do. [smile]

I am now at 8k miles and my second brake light bulb burned out. Yes I do a lot of braking. Maybe too much.
Looks like Porsche got a 'special deal' on light bulbs or something. I've been driving my other car for 140,000 miles. I think I just replaced the brake light bulbs (both) for the first time at about 130,000.
