Hi and thanks again ! My Boxster is 04/2006 with Sound Packeg Plus - according the parts list and the VIN I would need a PCM unit with P/N : 997.642.141.02 . now that costs more than 3000 Euro - where can I get a remanufactured PCM unit ? At Porsche they told me that I only can get a remanufactured part if it is a warranty case or if I give a unit back with the same P/N - but I only have a 997.642.143.02-unit !
Could you maybe help me ?
Best regards !

mugenseiki,

sad to say but im in the same situation as you. i did the entire CDR24 removal and retrofitted the PCM 997.642.143.01 into my 2008 GT3. similar to the boxster, the GT3 did not have BOSE as an option. so the only option i had with the sound package plus. i visited my local dealer twice to get them to program the digital output form my PCM to become analog, but they came to the realization that it was not possible.

then my next option was to purchase the BOSE amp, then i found out that the i would also require the harness to fit form the BOSE amp to the speakers which cost like $5500 USD. so im not gonna do that.

our best be would be to sell our current PCM 997.642.143.XX and then just purchase the PCM 997.642.141.XX which has the internal analog amplifers/drivers as suneet stated the previous thread.

so.. who wants to buy my PCM 997.642.143.01 ? it came out of a 2 week old 2008 Cayman S.

thanks....

If you plan to get another PCM anyway, why are you selling the nav module?

great question

turns out.. not only did i purchase the wrong PCM, but the navigation module i have turns out to be for a horizontal mount. porsche has 2 styles of navigation modules as well. (both thePCM and module came out of a 2 week old Cayman S)

the navigation module i currently have is part # 997.642.157.01. according to PET, its designated for a horizontal mount bracket. i believe there is something internal which dampens the DVD drive to perform better in the horizontal position.

the navigation module i should have (vertically mounted on the 7gt3) is part # 997.642.159.01. PET designates this navigation module to be mounted vertically.

eventhough i got no sound with my current setup, i was able to get the NAV to work. i noticed when the module was mounted vertically, i got erratic movments and sometimes no movents from my ICON on the nav screen.. especially when i hit bumps while driving. but, when i mounted it it horizontally (used double sided tape on the carpet), the erratic behavior disappeared.

Hi Suneet,

I found a PCM part number of:
997-642-13-05

Will this work on my 08 CS with Bose?
Seem like this part number is not listed on here at all. Either 141 or 143 for that third set.

I don't think that's a valid part number; but any PCM will work with a Bose car so I wouldn't worry.

Just found out that it's a 997-642-133-05 instead of what I put down prevously.
It's suppose to be coming out of a 911 Turbo.
Does that sound right?
Saw it on ebay by the way.

would a 987 MY06 Boxster (no CD changer, no BOSE) PCM/NAV work on a 997 GT3 (no CD changer, no BOSE, with sound package plus)?

Just did the PCM / Nav upgrade. Fairly easy thanks to the excellent instructions on this site.

Anyway, I ended up with an extra bracket for the nav unit. Free (just pay for shipping / packing) to whoever needs it. It's brand new, not even unwrapped. Part nr 997 642 231 00
