mounting with japanese bezel kit

i installed the alpine w205 and purchased the japanese bezel kit.
when installed, the headunit sticks out about half an inch beyond the borders of the bezel. is this normal?
i have looked at pics of other installs and it seems that the headunits are mounted flush with the bezel. what gives?

also, I was thinking of installing another subwoofer in the trunk. anyone have any experience with doing this? pics?

thanks guys

The sticking out is an issue with lining up of the Alpine mounting holes with the kit... see this thread, it is fixable:

double din head unit installation

Many have added a subwoofer in the rear hatch, for ease, I recommend adding a powered sub like the Infinity basslink for ease. Or install one of the Pioneer shallow mount subs with an amp in the front hatch. If you search for subwoofer you will come across many pictures of installs.

i did try the search function but could not find pics. i do remember once seeing pics of a sub in the trunk in that little area next to the tail lights

ironlung, if you are refering to the bezel of the original Becker CDR24 that came with the car, forget it! It is not possible to remove it from the Becker withour destroying the bezel. You will have to cut it away keeping as much as the frame as possible. In my case, I had to bondo the inner frame and sand it finished before repainging for installation of the AVIC-D3.

Hope this is what you were asking,
-Stevie
