install help!

I can not read the directions. All of the removal and install is fairly straight forward other then two wires it looks like I have to splice into. I marked the three pictures which I have no clue about.

One looks to have something to do with a pin 19 on some connector around the master cylinder.

The other looks like a wire that leads to fuse 6.

There is also some connector in the drivers side rear it is saying to do something with number 6. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I will take some picture to document the process and help out any future diy installers.

More AVIC-D3 questions

Hi guys.
Sorry to ask but I dont seem to have found any info.

Guys sorry to ask, but has anyone installed an AVIC-D3, but fitted the sat nav areial in a location other than sticking it to the dash or windscreen.
And or sticking it on the body work.

I no its not that big but it just dosnt look very professional to me, and would ,love to be able to hide it away out of site.
I have read an article that said it could be fitted somewere under a cover on or near the windscreen washer filler. Has anyone done this and does it still work ok.
It does come with a plate to fix it 2 and give a better signal, It should work by direct line of sight? but has anyone tried out hidding it, if so does it work?

I was thinking of trying to hide it in or near the wipers under the plastic cover or maybe cut the cover and build it in even, eitherway im open to ideas and will feed back to all as and when I get my unit fitted.

Should of said im looking to fit this in an 06 3.2 boxster S but this also applies to caymans.

Im currently waiting for some nice 6mm black high gloss perspex sheet to arrive and make my own fascia plate. As I dont fancey waiting or paying the Jap price for the silver look a like fascia. Unless anyone can tell me were to get one at a sensible price, and postage to the UK.

By the way just for others to no, there is a guy on ebay who is developing a kit made of piano black perspex that looks real good, he tells me the double din kit will be on ebay for cayman and boxster owners by the end of June 08, so maybe worth keeping an eye on. 97-04 Porsche 996 & 986 Piano Black Finish Faceplate 97-04 Porsche 996 & 986 Piano Black Finish Faceplate 97-0Porsche 996 & 986 Piano Black Finish Faceplate Item320260014674
He is also now selling NEW - PORSCHE 996 552 339 00 01C CLIMATE CONTROL TRIM Item number: 320261518790

But I cant wait that long so im going to have a go at making one my self, will let you no how it turns out.

As for the Can bus adaptor. I have found a UK supplier. http://www.lowcostcaraudio.co.uk/sho...-Bus-Interface

If anyone knows of any UK suppliers for these sorts of parts then please let me no ASAP as I have been searching for weeks.

I worked out how to remove the CDR24. And have found a really good detail instruction on the subject. You can find it on Rennteam.com CDR24 removal.

But as to wire up the AVIC without a can bus adaptor im not so sure. Im not bothered about a reverse cable, or camera. or the hand brake cable, as I understand it they just need to be grounded, ok illegal to use while driving, But trying to find The VSS to splice into is another thing. So im looking to go with the can bus adaptor ? and save the hastle.

Has anyone hooked up an Iphone to this unit ? if did you use
PIONEER CD-I200 CD-1200 IPOD ADAPTER AVIC-D3 AVIC-N4

Has anyone also kept the CDR24 changer and will it work via the AVIC-D3.

I dont have BOSE set up just the normal CDR24 with changer.

Keep up the great posts, mike

Mike pretty much every question you asked can be answered by doing searches here.

This last link has iPhone experience, as does this post which poses issues with AVIC and iPhone compatibility:

Another AVIC Install! Good. But.. Iphone Problems.

And lastly, no the CDC4 changer that works with the CDR24 and PCM will not work with the AVIC as it only has a MOST fiber optic output.

Thanks for all the help and direction. One last question.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the Bose amp, and also for the wiring going to the head unit (power for antenna, etc)

I think I have all the wires for the amp figured out, I am leaving the amp in just in case it would cause any error messages.

Guys
Thanks for all your help with my questions. My Can bus por o1 interface has arrived and im ready to install it.
I Just need to check with you guys that I understand a couple of things.
1. The d3 has a blue antenna control cable *6 and not connected to the iso plug *7 do i need to connect it together ? it ties up colour wise with the plug on the can bus interface.

2. Do I connect the pink car speed signal to the empty connector on the end of the d3 iso plug so that it picks up with pink on my can bus adaptor.

3. Do i connect up reverse gear signal in the other empty socket in the D3 ISO so that it also picks up with can bus adaptor. on mine it happens to be a brown wire.

ISO socket on can bus adaptor is 1 speed 2 reverese 3 blank 4 memory 5 remote 6 illumination 7 ignition 8 ground.

As for the green had brake cable, I dont really want to chop it in to my hand brake. as I understand this will allow me to watch dvd etc while driving, ok shouldnt do it but what the heck also allows to use sat nave while on the move.

What cable do I connect it too please, just an earth of a permanat power supply, like the spare yellow take off. Many thanks guys will post some pics when up and running. and will leave contact info any one in the uk needs help or advise with this type of install.
Still milling out my black gloos acrilc perspex to make my own fascia plate.

Thanks mike
