A new multi-media console mount

Today I finally finished the install of my custom multi-media system for my 2007 Cayman S. I made use of the empty space on the vertical carpet (covering engine) between the front seats. The multi-media system includes:

- a 10 disc CD changer
- a USB connection, suitable for IPOD or memory stick
- an AUX audio input receptacle
- a GPS antenna (Parrot 3400-LS)
- a Bluetooth hands free interface (Parrot 3400-LS)
- a 5V power receptable for Motorola mobile phones and smart phones
- a switched (7.5 AMP) 12V CLI (stock Cayman has no switched 12V outputs)
- a general purpose circuit for generating/fanning out the ignition switch
- 4 fuses for limiting current to various parts of the system
- a 3W speaker for use of the hands free interface (bypassing Bose interface issues)

all of this making use of the Porsche Bose system.

Attached are 3 photos showing the control console mounted between the seats on the vertical carpet. I will be submiting a detailed construction and interfacing article in the coming days. The development of this system would have been much more difficult without some of the earlier multi-media install articles written by various folks on this forum.

Yup. You got it. Flux capacitor it is. LOL

Seriously, I will be providing an article with all the details in the coming days. It is probably a little more effort than most folks would invest, but electronics design is part of my business and this was a project that for me was fun and in the end got me where I wanted to be.

I also just noticed I posted this in the wrong forum topic. Probably belongs under Cayman electronics. I assume a moderator can/will move it.
