I managed to closed the boot lid with the batter disconnected (yes, I have been kicking myself). I managed to unlock it using the procedure in the manual which worked fine, or appeared to. Since then, the remote key unlocking no longer works, and the rear spoiler has come up. The display in the car now says there is a system fault and a spoiler fault.
I've now disconnected the battery for 30 mins and reconnected again (without locking myself out of the compartment this time !!) and am leaving everything alone.
Anyone got any ideas if the faults persist ??
Thanks !
Mods4Cars
Mods4cars was founded in 2002 with the idea to add a highly demanded feature to the otherwise almost perfect Porsche Boxster: Comfort One-Touch roof operation while driving at slow speeds. The resulting product offered not only that, but also allowed quick and easy installation by just swapping out a relay box, thus leaving no traces and no permanent changes on the vehicle. The first smartTOP roof controller was born.
The spoiler fault is a new one for me, you may need to take it to the dealer for that. With regard to the locking and unlocking via the key, it sounds like you need to reactivate the keyfob. To do this insert the key in the drivers door and unlock it. Leave the key in the door and do not open the door. While the key is still in the lock, press the lock/unlock button on your key and at this point it should be reactivated.

Hmm, just tried that and it doesn't seem to be working. Do I need to just press once or hold it down ?
Thanks!
You should only need to press it once and the system will recognize your key again and start opening and closing your locks. Are you sure the battery is fully charged?

The correct way to reinitialize your key is to stick it in the ignition, don't turn it. Hold down the unlock button until the frequency of the red light blinking changes (~10-20 secs).
The spoiler problem does sound like a fuse mishap, check fuse 3 row a. While you're at it, 2 and 5 in row A also control central locking, one of them might be out.

Suneet, you're a diamond ! That did the trick first time :-)
Also the spoiler issue indeed turned out to be a fuse issue. Now also fixed :-)))
Unfortunately I'm also getting a PSM warning which doesn't seem to clear. I'm going to leave it all overnight and see what the morning brings after she's had a nice sleep !
This forum rocks. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and big kudos to Suneet !
PSM - Porsche Stability Management
While it can’t overcome the laws of physics, the revolutionary Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system does lend an added degree of balance and control to the Cayman’s mid-engine driving dynamics, inspiring surefooted confidence in corners and extreme situations.
A standard feature on the Cayman and Cayman S, PSM continuously monitors steering input, road speed, yaw velocity and lateral acceleration to calculate the actual direction of travel. If the car begins to steer off line, PSM instantly intervenes with precision brake inputs on individual wheels to help bring the car back onto the driver’s intended path.
If braking alone isn’t enough to correct the vehicle’s cornering line, PSM then calls on the Cayman’s engine management system, adjusting engine output as needed to help stabilize handling. PSM can also compensate in an instant for mid-corner changes in load resulting from deceleration or braking. When Sport mode is selected with the optional Sport Chrono Package, PSM’s threshold for intervention is raised, allowing for greater driver involvement. If you prefer driving without automatic PSM assistance, the system can be set to standby at any time. In this case, it will only intervene under heavy braking, where both front wheels exceed the ABS threshold.
For all of its technical ability, PSM goes virtually unnoticed in everyday driving situations, preserving the Cayman’s natural agility.
The PSM warning is normal when the battery is reconnected, it's because your steering sensor needs to be reset. Drive the car around for 10-20 minutes and it will work; the main point is the wheel needs to go a full rotation to the left and then to the right for the sensor to be fully calibrated.

That's fixed too now. I'd tried running the car round the block to clear it but it stayed on. I just went out of a slightly longer run and its sorted now.
One very relieved man sitting right here.
Now.... lets see if I can get the mobridge working, which is why I was messing about with the battery in the first place !
