If the official Porsche adapter from Suncoast is a true FM modulator there seems to be cheaper alternatives. I have researched some online radio install companies that carry the FM Modulator, Ipod to RCA and the antenna adapter for less than 100.00. I am not sure if i can post the company's name or the name of the FM modulator but this seems to be a cheaper alternative that is very similiar to the new Porsche adapter. Especially since you cannot control the ipod via the CDR-24 with either the Porsche solution or the FM Modulator that i found online.
If i decide to purchase i will provide feedback and a "how to install" in the future.
I am having a hard time justifying spending 300.00 for the Porsche adapter which is costing me more than my Ipod.....
If anyone is interersted in reading up on what i found online PM me.

Look for a FM modulator by Audiovox(i am not to crazy about the brand but it's cheaper). The model is the FMM-100 It sells for 59.95, then the rca to ipod connector sells for 29.95(might be able to find cheaper) and then you need the Euro antenna adapter But this item simply plugs in between your radio and the OEM antenna. It claims to produce good sound. I probably will purchase this in a few week and test its sound and reliability. This company informed me they dont carry the antenna adapter for Porsche but i believe Crutchfield sells the euro adapter for the antenna.
There is another option for plugging in an iPod or other MP3 (though you would have to control it via the device itself), which also by the way includes getting satellite radio. I have a Sirius Speedster receiver (still available at places like Best Buy) which I will remove from the old BMW 325i and install in my new Cayman down the line (soon I hope). The Speedster includes an AUX plug.
So at the very least, I can listen to the iPod even if I can't really control it (that's what shuffle is for anyway). Plus it is first and foremost a satellite receiver, so I can listen to Bruce Springsteen 24/7 on Sirius 10, Howard Stern, or the entertaining idiots on Sirius Patriot for good measure.
I do not look forward to having to pull wires in a brand new $50k+ car (I prefer to keep the clean look rather than stick the thing on the windshield off a suction cup bracket). Hopefully I can have a professional install in the cubby under the climate control and they could can run the antenna up front and the FM antenna modulator behind the dash, and possibly run the power to a switched outlet. Sad that aux plugs and satellite radio (never mind full iPod control) are not only not standard on this car, it's not even optional (yet). Welcome to 1999.
can you help explain how this kit differs from the GW500 kit from Dension? Anyone know whether or not you can song select via the PCM, or is it just porting the sound over to the head unit for output?

from the research i have done, if you have the PCM in your car your probably better going with the dension since it does give you better sound and it will let you control your ipod with your PCM unit. This option is basically a cheap way to connect your ipod with the CDR-24 radio similiar to what Porsche is doing with the new ipod interface they just introduced. The option i researched would mean you would have to control via ipod not your radio. The dension has more features but it also cost a bit more. Hope that answers your question.
engnr1, if you do decide to go with the satellite radio you are discussing please send some pics'. I am curious how tight it will be in the cubby hole, and also how functional it really is to get to the satellite radio controls. It seems like it will be an akward position for you hand to control the satellite radio.
There are quite a few alternatives to the Porshe model if you look around, I've been using one for over a year now. The only comment I have about the one you picked is that I recommend looking into a newer model that includes RDS. With RDS you can see the name of the song you are listening to on your stereo and speedo.

i did find a model with RDS after i posted, but i was quoted 199.00 for it. I am still searching around to see if i can find a cheaper one with RDS. Thanks for the info. what brand do you have? how do you like the sound?
Has anyone seen this item before, or have any experience with it? It appears to be very similar to the Porsche adapter, though perhaps without the AUX input.
