Assuming your car was originally supplied with the navigation module and its not a retro fit , the unit should function with a new DVD map. If the map is faulty or cannot be read you normally get a more specific message. There have been cases where new MAP DVD's will not work on earlier navigation drives because the map software has not been updated on the navigation drive. The 2006 MAP should contain a software update as part of the information on the DVD , but sometimes it will only update from the previous software version. If this is the case you wil need the software updating either by a dealer or by installing a previous map. Its probably worth also checking the information from the navigation screen as to how many satellites are being recieved. If your car has been serviced recently , its possible the connection to the GPS antenna (that sits in the windscreen cowl above the pollen filter) may have become disconnected. The PCM communicates with the navigation drive via the MOST (fibre optic) interface . It may also be worth checking that the connections on the rear of the navigation module (orange wires) have not become loose.
