What Sirius sat radio fits best in space above shifter?
I did a search and could not find adequate threads for me to determine which satellite radio (I prefer sirius) fits the space snug above the shifter. I called to day to cancel my satellite radio on my Corvette than I traded in for the Cayman S, and the sirius rep offered me a free radio for my Cayman, but the measurements were 4 inches long by 2.5 inches wide. That seems too small to fit the space where most have placed their radios. If anyone has a model number of a unit they used that fits the area perfectly I would appreciate your feedback. In addition, those who have had the satellite radio installed, did you go through a Porsche dealership or did you use a private chain or local car audio shop? I thank you all in advance for your help.
InV or SiriusOne both fit. InV can be wedged-in. SiriusOne, with it's different shape, like a radardetector, will sit right inside the cubby but the display is not as nice as other receivers.
Escort Radar
At ESCORT, we're continually improving our line of radar and laser detectors with the best technology. Our latest invention, the GPS-powered PASSPORT 9500ix, is no exception. It provides the best long-range protection against every known radar and laser gun in use in North America, but also incorporates GPS accuracy to silence each and every false alert. It is by far the most intelligent, fully automatic radar and laser detector ever designed. You drive. It learns. End of story. http://www.escortradar.com
Jeff -- this idea goes off in a different direction, but after a couple of months, I'm really happy with the results. Sirius has a series of "Stiletto" portables, which are about the size of a pack of 100m cigarettes. Along comes an auto dock which fits perfectly to the right of the center console in the Cayman. It takes up no space, provides a full color screen, button chanel selection, instant switch to traffic and all the goodies. Best of all, this leaves the cubby in front of the shift for such good stuff as garage security keys, cellphone, etc.
The Stiletto is intended to be a portable Sirius radio, but it records shows (I'm old enough to be a Cousin Brucie fan) for later replay & picks up internet radio. It's neat to take along jogging or bring up to the office when working late.

I just bought the InV2 and I'm pretty disappointed. First, it doesn't FM transmit on 87.9 which in the Boston area seems to be the only solid choice. I know my friend's Sportster replay does 87.9, but the Sportster series needs to sit in a dock, and that makes the unit way too big to go behind the shifter. I am settling for 88.5 which has a background of static that I get with the music/talk radio. I would return it but it was only $40. I'll likely keep it and use it rarely as the static plus really awful sound quality will just make it more annoying than useful.
I would just get the head unit replaced but for $2000 I need to buy a winter car.
I just stuck the antenna in the net under the hatch and that location works great BTW.
I'm having the static issues, too. I'm on 88.1, and I get bleed from a powerful Mexican station. I'm going to buy the antenna adapter and hook it into the antenna lead. I understand I have to buy the euro plug adapter... But dang it sure looks good...

Is there a way to get to the antenna cable without pulling the head unit?
