CD Changer costs?

What is the cost to have the dealer install a CD Changer?

Can I find them on eBay?

Where does it get installed?

Thanks,
Mike

Search for cdc-4 on ebay.

It goes in the front trunk under the plastic panel in front of the battery cover.

You will need the mounting bracket and nuts/bolts and a fiber optic cable which will vary depending on if you have BOSE and or Nav. The power supply cable is already installed but tucked away to one side. I did the install in about 1-2 hours. Probaly the hardest part is getting to the main fiber optic connector which is behind the brake master cylinder, the rest is pretty simple.

Thanks for the info! I have the BOSE system.

What did you have to take apart to get to the main fiber optic connector?

Check with the dealer for the correct part numbers for the cable they should be able to tell you this.

i was quoted almost 900 for Cd changer with installation. Have not done it yet.
Just an FYI the 2008 caymans are pre-wired for the CD changer and have the fiber optic cable already ran from the boot to behind the head unit.

I was told by my dealer that some Caymans are prewired, and some are not regarding 07's, not sure if this is really true, but that is what they said.

The cost to install it is around $1k, but I would just get an ipod system installed for less than that.

I wound up dishing out about $700 for it after some hefty negotiating. I was told (beside the bracket fiber optic cable and so on) that the radio had to be programed to accept the cd. In other word it was not just a plug and play scenario. Is this the case or was this an attempt by the dealer to make me have the radioinstalled there not that I would have had it done somewhere ealse the price was good I thought

Well this is good news! They want to charge about $125.00 for the cable. Can anyone else confirm that the fiber cable is already there for 08 Caymans?

Hi,
I recently purchased a cdc-4 on Ebay and now have to install same. I am of the understanding from previous posts on this tread that there are only 2 electrical connections to be made as my car is a 2008 Cayman S with Nav & Bose. Anyone that can point me to somewhere on this site with additional information (IPB, wiring schematic) on this install that would be greatly appreciated. I am admittedly ignorant of most things electronic so I tend to be very cautious approaching such things.
I am not even sure of the the proper location for the cdc-4 for my car, of course I know it is installed in the front bonnet near the Nav Unit. HELP !

Would anyone be kind enough if he or she knows, to inform me as to the difference between Porsche P/N 996.645.140.02 and P/N 997.645.140.02 ? Are they interchangeable ?

Thank You In Advance
