There a several different apps now that claim to do similar things. Does anyone know if any of them record the accelerometer data? One claims to record the performance data so you can email it, but if it is just the summary results (0-60 qtr mile, max g) it would be neat but not useful. If I could playback recorded data and compare runs (even if I had to send it to my computer first) that would be something.
One of my buddies tried this in his mustang. It gets pretty close. You have to make sure the iphone/Ipod is completely secure, any movement will throw the reading off. It is pretty cool
Still waiting on my iPhone mount so that I can put it to use.

A new iPhone app that promises to read OBD metrics with the paid version of the product when it is launched. No oil pressure reading however. There is a free light version available that advertises: "Lateral and Forward Acceleration: Graph your cornering, braking and acceleration G-forces. (Available in Rev Lite)
GPS Track: Visual track displays your location and acceleration data - see how you are braking and accelerating around corners."
The complete version is also supposed to allow "Engine Code Retrieve and Reset" according to their web page.

The ability to link directly to the OBD port would make that app very cool.
I just downloaded TrackDay, which looks pretty similar to Dynolicious. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to test it out yet since I'm still waiting on my Ram-Mount.

SOFTRONIC produces DME programming and hardware to suit your companies specifications. Our current software suite is a complex matched set of programs housed in a Flash Manager and Flash Client. This software is matched with two cables, an End User and Master Cable. The SOFTRONIC proprietary flashing solution outperforms all other combinations in speed and accuracy including the factory Porsche equipment.
Durametric too - but unfortunately both those programs are Windows based (and I don't know if the iPhone processor would be capable of running a DME flash anyway).

Yeah, I guess if a small form factor was that important for the input, one could use one of the Sony 4.5 inch PCs that runs a full implementation of the winOS...
Perhaps it would be nice to carry specialized chip profiles around to be called up to suit the purpose. Kind of like making truly useful variations of sport chrono.
