New My IO bluetooth IPOD solution

Hi,
I went to the British Motorshow this weekend.
No Porsche stand which was a shame
But some cracking "classic" examples in the heritage stand.

But I did come across a new aftermarket Ipod solution for factory fit stereos.

The company is called MY-IO
iO | Innovation Onboard, integrating portable devices into your car - Bluetooth Music Streaming & Hands Free kits.

It would seem they fit an amp in between the stereo and speakers.
It seems to be a very clever bluetooth kit that allows you to connect ipods and other 3.5mm jack based products. But it also has an adaptor for the ipod to stream using bluetooth. You can also stream using phones with in built in enhanced bluetooth.

The adaptor also allows you to control the ipod from the dash mounted dongle.

Either way it is something I am interested in.

Halfords fit the solution for £180 and 30quid extra for the ipod adaptor.

Now I have to find a Halfords that will fit it as the 3 I have approached would not take the chance fitting in the Cayman as their insurance was not up to it.

I think they are just chicken. I called the OPC and they would not fit it for me either.

I will let you know, how get on...

I like the iO Connect box idea, but don't the Bose speakers need to be attached to the Bose amp in the car to work? Something about the speakers and amp being matched at some non-standard power level? Can the iO Connect amp sit in front of the speakers in our cars?

All I really want is the freaking jack to plug into and this would be perfect if it works. Keep us informed.

Oh, for the "good old days" when you could simply say, "No, thanks." and take the car without a radio and have one installed from the ground up.
