Hello all... we have a 2008 Cayman S with Bose and CD Changer. I was wondering if there is an aux input accessory that can be added to the car. I know on my bmw 330i they have it as an accessory for $40. The radio is already prewired for it, you just gotta plug it into the back of the stock headunit.
Is there anything similar for porsche? I already search but nobody responded to previous inquiries. Thanks guys.
If you do a search you will see there is a whole range of solutions for your car starting with inexpensive wired FM modulators (~$40), to Fiber Optic digital solutions that will transfer song names to the PCM if you have it (~$400) and there is a Porsche solution that is a wired FM modulator but offers charging ($340). The advantage of the fiber optic solutions like the Dension or NavTV are that you can control the iPod from the headunit or the iPod, and the other solutions require you to choose songs from the iPod itself.

Ah, come on... fess up. You didn't really search, or even look very hard through the "Cayman Electronics" section. 'Cuz if you had, you would have easily found these threads:
Thanks for the advice guys, but my question was about aux input. I appreciate the alternatives but i really just wanted to aux input so that the quality is good, and it is universal(not everyone has an ipod). It doesn't seem like there's an easy aux input solution like bmw. Thanks again.

I really like my Scosche hard-wire FM modulator. $30 plus another $20 for antenna adapter. The FM modulator is sold by Cruthfield and I got my antenna adapter from audio outfitters - Metra 40EU30. Next step up is $400 for Dension.

You are right -- there is no easy aux input solution like BMW. Or Toyota. Or Ford. The solutions we've provide are the ones we know of, and many of us are... surprised?... annoyed?... disappointed?... that the Cayman doesn't come standard with an aux input (or interface of some kind). Heck, an $11k Hyundai comes with it, but not our beloved Cayman.
Ah well, if you find another solution, let us all know!

Do the new model year 911's have the ipod integration as rumored? Would these radios be able to swap into our Caymans? I haven't seen a new Porsche yet.
Thanks alot guys. I think I'll give the hardwired FM Modulator a shot. It's a shame porsche is behind on the latest gadgets/technology. They should at least offer some of these things as an option. Oh well, thanks again!
