and i'm not saying that the Techart / H&R set is the way to go, but that its worked out great without squeaking and they were reletively easy to get, and a good number of sponsors here carry them or at least can order them
both eibach and "the racer's group" (TRG) make stuff that will fit the cayman, just make sure you get something that is A LOT STIFFER than the oem bars (front at 25? mm and the rear at 22mm?)
GT3 front bars should also work with a slight mod (plz double check on that someone)
It was my understanding that the Cayman already comes with the GT3 bar. Additionally, can you fix up your pole position article there is no article, just pictures, also for the sway bar article it just seems to end, no info about the rear sway bar and review/conclusions so you may want to go back and edit that article as well.
Thanks!

I will start by saying I am no expert on the subject. I got the H&R sway bars, front and rear, and I have PASM, the rear is adjusted to the softer of the 2 settings. With this combination I have no desire to add the Bilstein PSS. The ride stiffens a little bit, say 10 to 15% with the sway bars, and with questionable pavement 19 inch tires become a little to much for daily driving. If the roads were relatively good here I would have been happy. As it is, I got a set of 18" wheels and tires and I am very happy with the setup. I would not want to stiffen the ride any more. I am having installed a Quaife hopefully tomorow.
I use my car to drive around and enjoy, and I take maybe 5 or 6 DE's a year. Right now I have more car than driver. My current plans are to continue with de's and "graduate" to R compound tires and more agressive brake pads than stock. Who knows, maybe next year or the one after that, I might want a stiffer suspension, but not now. Just my $0.02
I am happy with my car the way it stands.
PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.

speaking of which, it just "ends" because i can't upload anymore pictures
i took about 60-70 pictures for the sway bar install, because i thought it was important to illustrate how the thing was installed, but apparently i can only upload 5 pictures, which i sort of had to choose from
its easy enough to install by yourself if you have access to a lift and a torque wrench, i've even got the torque specs
so yeah, the article does suck, but could you lift the ban just a touch for this one article?
also, the recaro install article, there are a lot of pictures too, but i haven't yet finished the article yet
i was going to send you a pm about the limit then update the article with the part about the harness bar install, seat belt removal, airbag light deactivation, and then the 6 point install, and how the seat belt receptacle problem is solved
and no, we don't have the GT3 front bar because the GT3 front bar is adjustable, and its a lot thicker
i ordered one and gave up trying to install it because my dealer refuses to cut the end of the bar off

That's not correct, you can upload lots of photos to the Articles section of the gallery, then use the BB CODE link from your uploaded photo and paste it into your article, your article can have unlimited photos in it.
I know I know we need to have a step by step for creating articles...
Let me know if that gets you going or if not just email me and I'll try to explain in more detail.

OK so same part other than the adjustable ends on the GT3 one, what I mean is that the diameters and strength of the bars are the same, the GT3 has more adjustable suspension components, but the basic rigidity of the bar is the same for either, looks like you could swap em if you wanted to..

fafnir - when you're measuring the torsional stiffness of a hollow shaft (which is what I think you are saying both the CS and GT3 bars are), then the relationship of the stiffness of the two is (DE4-dE4) where D is the outside diameter and d is the inside diameter. (The E4 parts are just where I am attempting to show to the fourth power).
Eg. a 30mm OD bar with 3mm wall = 810,000 - 531,441 = 278,559
a 30mm OD bar with 1.5mm wall = 810,000 - 659,750 = 150,250
So with these numbers the bigger bar is about 85% stiffer. Plug in the real numbers and see what you get. Remember the above is only for comparing and doesn't give the real torsional numbers. And the leverage on the adjustable GT3 bar is simple lever math, of course.
If there are any younger engineers out there who can remember the math better please have at it!
cayman does not have GT3 bars.
if you are on a budget, spring, bars and tires.
but to get it really right, coil over, tires are more important. i ran stock bars, but it was dead flat and neutral...
back then, i didn' t have much choices on bars, spent most of the time dialing in the motons.
I'm thinking of trying the GT3 bar, since it's one of the few mods I'm allowed in an SCCA stock autocross class. with the added length at the end, do you need alternate endlinks? If so, can anyone suggest a reputable sourse (I see many different endlinks for sale on the net)?
fafnir - do you still have the bar? If so, I may be interested in picking it up?
Thanks, Mike
