Does anyone here have experience with the Precision Porsche Cayman bodykit? I came across it on the vividracing website, and they claim the fitment is extremely good. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Have you ever seen a vendor advertise a body kit they sell as "fitment really bad!" ??? At one point this same company was advertising a catback only exhaust system that supposedly produced 23hp at the rear wheels. It would be nice to get some independent information as opposed to marketing fluff.
Ah just looked at that kit, that is the TechART GTS knock-off kit. Since I know the authentic TechART front bumpers have some fitment issues, I can't imagine that a knock-off of the TechART bumper would fit any better. Yes it is cheaper, but there may be a reason why too in terms of quality, fitment, durability, materials, etc. I don't think I'd be the first to volunteer to test this particular kit.
I believe the kit is fiberglass versus polyurethane, which helps to explain why it is so much cheaper. I am interested in the side skirts and did some checking around on some of the other boards - Rennlist and 6Speed. They have a good reputation with the 996 crowd, so it would be interesting to see how good the fitment is on the Cayman.
wow, that's a techart replica! except for the little gap at the botton near the wheel well.
i remembered there was another company that sells the same kit and they were selling it at around $5k. If they are not using fiberglass, this is quite a good deal.

I'm sort of wondering why TechART hasn't sued them, maybe they are unaware? Since most of the TechART stuff is fiberglass and is what $3k+ for a front bumper, I don't see how these could be polyeurthane at that price, but if someone wants to stop by their place and check it out it is pretty easy to tell if something is PU or Fiberglass. BTW, there really isn't anything wrong with fiberglass, heck Corvettes are full of it, of course their bumpers are still PU though...
To the best of my knowledge the Techart bumper actually starts at $4,500, so this one is about half the price. And saying they could not make one in polyurethane and sell it for $2,300 doesn't really make sense. All of these parts are marked up a ridiculous amount. I paid $350 for an OEM Euro bumper for my M3 from the BMW dealership, and I'm sure they made money even at that price.
I finally got an e-mail back from Precision and they confirmed that the side skirts for the Cayman are fiberglass. However, he did say that they are working on a set in Polyurethane.
"the side skirts that I have now
are fiberglass and we are working on polyurethane tooling which should be
available in 2 to 3 weeks. thanks Tony"
If you are looking for side skirts look at Strosek good price, nice fit. Here is what they look like installed
They are a sponser and great to deal with. I have their spoiler as well.
