I'm curious how much it costs to have a 12 second cayman
I know this car wasn't made or isn't praised for the straight line acceleration, but I am curious what are the mods and costs to get a Cayman S to run mid/high 12's?
I noticed a few people run these times on this forum so please share.
Thanks, anyone else?
I'm not getting much from that website.
Actually, that gizmo is surprisingly accurate. If you key in 3150lb and 13.3s (Road&Track's 1/4mi time), it says 264hp, which is right on the money. To get to 12s it says you'd need 365hp or so, which is 410 FWHP. To get this you will need a well-tuned X51 or forced induction. Or, more economically, trade the CS for a C6.

As said you will need an engine swap or something like the RuF supercharger to have a hope of that time you are a solid driver.
I read somewhere on this forum that ECU upgrade, headers, sport exhaust will get you into 12s?
Thats what I was originally wondering.
PSE - Porsche Sports Exhaust System
The acoustics of this dual-mode sports exhaust system are dependent on driving style, ranging from standard output during normal road driving to a more aggressive tone during performance use. Modes are selected using a button on the center console (or ‘Sport’ mode button on vehicles with optional Sport Chrono Package/Sport Chrono Package Plus).
Introduction planned for 04/2007. Some models may require additional components. For detailed information about this product, please contact your Porsche dealer.

The Cayman S is 295hp, how is that 264 right on the money?
With Intake tuning, ECU tuning and Exhaust tuning you can get into the 12's, you can make mid 12's with a really really good launch and really really good shifts and some luck sprinkled in for good measure.

Agree. My CS is second after KmanS in dragtimes.com. Similar mods too. Maybe the ECU flash does help a bit (est 0.2 sec), even without it, I manage 12.7 without a problem. I think with a couple of slicks, you might run 12.5's.
Add a turbo, and you are in low 11.s
Add NOS too, and you are in the 10's
If you want less than 10's, either you need a much bigger engine, or get rid of at least 500 lbs, plus all the above.
But then again, our crocs are no dragsters.
