Ruf Conversion: Supercharger or Carrera x51 engine???

Anyone have any thoughts as to which would be better?? If I decided to take the plunge, I was thinking x51. But I've never seen any official performance #'s as well as cost??? The thought of the Kompressor is a little scary.....a lot of engine stress. Seems as though the Carrera engine would be easier to service as well.

Any opinions would be appreciated....Thanks.

X-51... it's not that the supercharger is scary... the X-51 can be serviced by your local Porsche dealer, if you want. And, the crate motor itself will carry a warranty from PAG (two years, If I'm not mistaken), although Ruf has a warranty on all their work, too.

Why not go both and supercharge an X-51? Now we are talking...

For longevity and reliability the X-51

For more HP and torque the Supercharger or Turbo

Really depends on what is more important to you.

You have no worries with the Ruf supercharger.I know the person who did the mapping for the kit and he tried to blow it up on the dyno but the only thing he did was melt the cats.

You will not get a warranty from Porsche if they found out it was in a Cayman.

An upcoming issue of EXCELLENCE will feature an article written by the author who tested the X-51 engined RUF Boxster last year. The article will feature the RUF 3400 K and should offer some insight into the X-51 vs. supercharged 3.4 issue.
