moton suspension

Does any one have any experience with the moton suspension on the cayman. I am trying to decide between PSS9 and them.

wow, there is a quite a big gulf between pss9 motons. frankly unless you are seriously trackng your car in advanced groups, running r-compounds, etc. you don't need motons. PSS9 is a nice comfortable riding c/o kit that allows you to lower you car & improve the handling without compromising its ability to be daily driver (reduced ground clearance might be the only issue). motons paired with spring rates to really take advantage of them (600+ in the back) is going to be a stiff ride, the monoballs in the camber plates can get noisy quickly, and on street tires especially in the wet the car will be less forgiving. not too mention a couple Gs in price diff at least....its like the differance between a base cayman and a gt3RS on pilot cups, not really apples to apples comparison. i think KW3, of the JICs (avail with differant spring rates) offer you some alternatives in between.

Motons

I have Moton Club Sports (detuned race dampers) on my RS project car and they are wonderful. If you can afford them and are going to do track events, there's no comparison between PSS9s and these things (or JRZ RS Pros). They are not particularly noisy and the ride isn't harsh with intermediate springs (500-600 lb. range). The trick is proper setup by a shop that knows what it's doing vs. just slapping the new shocks on. Not that many people have the experience with the Cayman to do the setup properly.

if you track less than 10 day a year, moton is overkill, tough it is FAR better than PSS9.

to really benefit from moton, you NEED monoball camber plates. those WILL get noisy in about 10k miles. i dont mind the noise, but you???

same thing

I when through the same decision.

Billsteins(with springs) $1900 VS $4600 for motons +$800 for springs was part of the decision.
I also didn't think I knew enough to tune the Motons correctly.
With the billsteins, you go harder or softer, seems kind of easy to set.

In talking to people with Bilsteins and Motons, a complaint on the bilsteins was running out of travel in the corner and sitting on the bump stops, giving you effectively no suspension.

I went with the Bilsteins because I had a Porsche mechanic who had taken a few Bilsteins apart over the years and cut the bump stop down for guys tracking their 911s.

I then spend the $3500 difference on GT3 seats.

While setup correctly the Motons are likely 'better', I can still achieve higher corner entry and exit speeds than almost anyone in my run group. Limited by driver ability not suspension.

you really need to be a suspension guru to set up moton correctly and it is not an easy task for sure.

800 for springs? they made of gold? someone is ripping u off big time.

According to the installer, $832 is the retail pricing for 4 Eibach ERS springs + 4 Eibach tender springs + Eibach 4 spacers. The cheapest place I found them on-line was $680. This installer does full time tech support at my track (Texas Motor Sport Ranch), and yes you can find cheaper. But I don't think full retail is a rip off, depending on service level and location.

There are cheaper springs, but if I put Motons on my car, I would not scrimp on springs.

that price is fair. it wasn't clear to me the price inc helper springs and the thrust plate (spacer). i thought you were talking about $800 for just the 4 main springs.
