Finished a do-it-yourself Capristo install this past weekend. Article with pics coming soon. If you are attending Crocktoberfest look me up if you have questions or want a demo of how this thing works.
Capristo
Capristo exhaust systems for the Cayman. The Capristo valve system allows the Cayman to be relatively quiet in cruise speeds but to sound like an F1 car when the valves are open.
Looks pretty good, I have my blue vacuum tank in the trunk, perhaps I should consider a relocation to down below, looks like a nice custom bracket, etc. That reminds me I need to update the install article here to show that cannister and tell people where it is supposed to go inline, etc. was that information provided by Capristo in your kit? Nick representing Capristo will be at Croctoberfest.

It works perfectly so I think I got it right when I put it in the line between the "Vacume" input on the control box and an engine manifold vacume line. I'll bring along an extra copy of the control box programming instructions if you are interested, I don't think anybody else has them.
I just got mine installed. The blue vacuum was installed in my trunk. My installer told me the vacuum lines were too short. Anyone has the same problem ? Also, does anyone have any idea how to check whether the electronic valve opening and closing works properly ? I find the Capristo exhaust way too loud, and there's been some smoke coming out of the tail pipes.

Sounds like you got it right, basically it goes inline before the upper right connection on the black box, I forget what it says by that connection. I have a copy of the programming instructions and even went through them with Antonio and his team and we tried out a few different settings. I tweaked mine to open a little later, around 4200 rpm as opposed to 3000 rpm, it was less prone to open in the neighborhood under spirited driving that way. I also like how you can control other aspects with the new box.

Sounds like your valves are set to full open all the time, because with them closed it is pretty quiet/normal in sound. The easiest way to check if the valves are working properly and everything is hooked up is to look under the car and press either the A or B button on the remote and manually open or close them. Without vacuum applied the natural state is closed, with vacuum applied the valves open. If you have full vacuum applied all the time (such as not being hooked up correctly) the valves would be open all the time. Sounds like an incorrect install to me from what you've described.
I can't seem to find dyno results for the Capristo for valves open and valves closed. Does anyone know where that might be available?
Thx

Mookie,
When I first hooked up my system the valves stayed open until I re-set the control box. You need the programming instructions to do that. Nick can get the them emailed to you. The headers start out full of greasy residue from the manufacturing process which will smoke a lot until it’s burned away.
Fort Felker,
The good news; I’ve dyno’d my system before and after installation and with valves closed to redline and valves open to redline and have the raw data to build comparison charts for torque and HP, the results are not what I expected but not for lack of power. The bad news; I’m packing right now for Crocktoberfest and am running late, this will be my last post till I get back. When I return I’ll finish my installation article and post a thread on dyno results and adjusting the control box. I'm outa here!!
