I always thought the benefit of remapping was more to smooth out the power curve than to increase horsepower. Is that not the case? The CS has a serious dip in torque in stock form and I would hope that a remap could at level it out a little.

Of course, there are many here wiser than I. Am I confused on this point?

And why would you want to reduce those bothersome peaks on either side of the dip to "smooth out" the curve?

What I intended was to "fill in the valley" between the peaks so you have a smooth upward sloping torque curve instead of one that drops significantly for 1500 rpms or so. I have seen this done effectively before with remapping using a dyno and creating a custom map.

Just wondered if there was an "off the shelf" chip that would help since the curve provided in the manual has a big downward spike. I have been told that many vehicles are set up to run lean for emissions reasons and a remap can offset that and the torque curve improves as a result.

Again, my experience is limited and I am looking for constructive guidance from those who have a deeper understanding of such things.
