The December 2007 issue of Car & Driver has an article on the Farmbacher Loles Cayman GTR.
They stated some negatives such as:
"What's strnage is that we've tested standard 911s that were about as quick and a 3290-pound 911 S that was even stronger (0-to-60 in 4.1 seconds and the quarter in 12.6 at 112 mpg)."
"We're also curious why the GTR couldn't equal the stock Cayman S on the skidpad and in the braking departiment. The GTR pulled 0.95 g on the skidpad and came to a standstill from 80 mph n 169 feet. The stock Caymans S recorded 0.99 g and stopped in 154 feet."
On the plus side they really like the exhaust note: "It's yowl has a shrieking quality that brings Le Mans to mind. It's the best melody this side of a Ferrari's and a strong reason to justify the big price."
I remember reading a review by one of the members here (cant remember who) of the cayman GTR, it mentioned that the tires F-L puts on the GTR as standard are terrible, much worse than OEM PS2/Potenzas. That could explain the bad braking and skidpad numbers, and partially the disappointing 0-60 as well.
That wasn't "a review;" those were his comments after getting his ride back from F-L.
I believe this is the gentleman from NC. He wishes he had asked for something other than the Advans that F-L employs as he was experiencing extreme difficulty in sticking. And that writer implied, in response to my query, that the wheel size F-L chooses might be a bit wider than ideal for sticking in the curves.
I believe he said that he would have asked for high end Michelin's [MPSC's?] if you had thought about it in advance.
If I knew better how to use the 'search' features here, I'd pull up the link. Perhaps it was 'Off to Farnbocher Loles it Goes' (sic--meaning the misspelling of Farnbacher's name).
I haven't read the article in Car & Driver myself yet, but I find it sorely disappointing and their endorsement that the noise it makes justifies the price just shows how "informed" Car & Driver is. That's ridiculous!

The new C&D has a review of the F-L Cayman that we've all seen on this site. Their review is somewhat lukewarm when compared to the stock CS they tested. Oh, it's faster, but not by a whole lot... .5 sec. quicker to 60 and a bit more through the 1/4 mile. They do note that perhaps the electronics were not up to snuff. That is, the ECU needed some work to realize more power from the new engine. Also interesting was that even with the suspension upgrades, they could not achieve any better numbers (worse) that a stock CS. But they noted that the stock PS2s are better than the Advans that were on the F-L car. Oh well, there goes my plan to chuck out $35k for the upgrades!
Oops! GTR.

Unless F-L came out with a new GTS model, the only one I know about is the GTR as in GaToR.
The suspension upgrades alone from F-L can't be less than a stock CS's in terms of performance. My suspicion is that particular copy was not set up well.
While those two who have had the F-L conversion have posted here before, BOTH have stated that they are quite pleased with the GTR. However, the Yokohama ADVANs were not regarded well.
I think that C&D might be biased towards their advertisers and I suspect that their drivers are not skilled enough to extract the performance these cars possess.

I have been driving my GTR for over a year. In my opinion it is a truly AWESOME automobile. FL took a very good car and made it a great car. The car has surprised many unsuspecting "Higher HP" vehicles.

Oops! I made a mistake... brain phart! C&D gave the CS high marks and conceded that there were perhaps some issues with this particular car. The suspension was not an issue. It was the tires. And I don't recall who drove the car, but some of the C&D guys are experienced way beyond most, e.g., Bedard.

All I know is I want MPSC and BBS on my GTR. None too wide and with a rear wiper 'cause I intend to fly low. To hell with the TSA.

Hell, why don't you register your GTR? Stop lurking and come out, come out of the closet. Stop playing Hide 'n Seek with us. There's at least one other GTR {NC} with us and maybe as many as four.
Which build number and color did you get?
Whatcha running for tires/wheels? Sizes and brands.
Any recommendations?
Damn you guys who hide from us!
OK, OK, I know we kind of hound you and envy you, but

Ve have Vays to make you Tok!
