I have not run a front plate on any car for more than a decade, and have never been stopped for it (all boring cars, though...). I think that a front plate hurts the looks of just about anything (maybe not a Hummer...). Because I expect the CS to be a police magnet, I looked for a way to put on a front plate that did not hurt the look too badly, and found one that I kind of like:
(Sadly, not my real plate number)
Texas law requires that the number AND the word TEXAS both be readable, so this is not a legal mounting. I am curious to see if I get pulled over for this. I am more in compliance now than I have been in years, but the unique look may get "unwanted" attention. Time will tell.....

** If you have a Tiptronic, or additional cooler, the center should not be obstructed! **
If you do not have a metal bender (I don't), clamp the plate down to a counter with a sharp edge (put a 2x4 or some strong, flat material on top so the edge is continuously clamped). A Black and Decker work bench works great, too. Now use another 2x4 to bend the plate. With a flat surface across the plate bending it, you should get a nice, crisp bend. Do this above and below the numbers.
Measure the opening and plate, and mark the location of the plate on the car with a grease pencil (or something else that will wipe off). The center "scoop" is a complex, curvy shape. As you push the plate into the opening, you will find you have to bend the edges a bit more, and bend the corners down even farther, but after a minute or two of trying and bending with your hands, the plate should fit snugly into the opening. Mark across the front top and bottom edges of the plate.
Now put a strip of velcro across the top and bottom bent back edges of the plate, and the mating velcro strip about 1/2 inch back from the marks you made on the car. Get a couple of pieces of stiff, clear plastic (old overhead projector sheets for example) and put them over the velcro on the plate (so it will not mate) and push the plate into place. Once you are sure it lines up with the marks, pull out the plastic and the plate will lock into place.
To remove, use a plastic putty knife to break the velcro lock, and as you push the putty knife along, push a piece of stiff plastic behind it to keep the velcro from re-attaching. Once one side is clear, you should be able to peel off the other side. Pull off the velcro, clean off any remaining adhesive with adhesive remover, and you are back to OEM.

I got the tow hook set up from mower deck with the plan to just having it handy under the bonnet in case I am pulled over. I put in on the car, and it looks kind of cool...so I just left it on.
If you don't like it, just use it long enough to collect some bugs...then carry under the hood. If you get pulled over you can apologize and say you forgot to put it back after a day at the track...and put it on right there. If you get a fix it ticket, at least you can "fix" the problem in 5 seconds without any fuss or damage to your car. Everybody needs to buy one of these mower deck things in my opinion.
As I see that you are from Texas, the mounting of your plate is illegal. You can only cover the edges of your plate, one cannot obscure the state name or any of the "fine" art at the bottom of the plate. This is a $100 fine, and it is an add on fine as this is not a moving violation. Unfortunately I found this out through experience.

i just did this - and my $100 ticket went down to $10 - presto! now all i need are some insect carcasses and i am set. think it will fit in front boot in the space beside the CD changer? i have ˝ bottle of 0w40 in there right now, so the compartment seems pretty large…

Not sure...but it consists of two pieces. It might fit.
My front plate idea was to make a new plate out of some other thin material, which isn't approved, but ... then affix it above the center to the front bumper with clear bra material.
So, while it wouldn't be technically legal, I doubt anyone would write it up for not having a plate.
