I have read two reviews where the reviewer made heavy mention of the heat from the engine compartment becoming uncomfortable for the passengers in the car. Has anyone else noticed this situation? I'm ready to purchase, but would like to get past this last concern.

In my '08 Cayman, there is no sense of heat from the engine. With Auto-Climate, it seems comfortable at ambient temperatures from 35 to 80.

I've got a Cayman 2.7 with manual heat/air controls. This past summer was one of the hottest on record in North Carolina. I never felt uncomfortable.

I have never noticed any heat. Both the MBs I have owned had a funny quirk where air coming through from the outside was always warmer than the actual outside temp to the point where you needed the AC compressor on to stay comfortable on days above 60 degrees. No such prob in my Caymans.

I live in Houston TX. We have to run the A/C year round here. I've never noticed even the slightest heat from the engine compartment.

I read the same thing in some review. I have no clue what this guy is talking about.

I never ever turn on A/C and I run the car hard. I have never felt anything not even a hint of warmth from the engine.

I too live in Houston, TX where we always run the A/C even in the "winter." I have never felt any discomfort or heat from the engine compartment.

I do, however, get some resonance from the engine - especially under hard acceleration! What a sweet note...

Most of these comments were made when publications were test driving very early non-production models of the cars... check the dates on the reviews you read, and you will probably see that is the case. Porsche took these early comments and added more insulation between the motor and the passenger compartment in the production models of the cars. None of the reviews on production cars have mentioned this as a problem.

As others have said, there is none of these problems in any of the cars, going back even to the first '06 cars off the line. I have a car built in late Jan. 2006, and live in Las Vegas and have driven the car in up to 117 degrees F weather and not been even the slightest bit uncomfortable.

If you have cabin heat and are starting to hear AC gurgling, then you may have a coolant leak in the system. The dealer can service the AC and it will be cool, regardless of the outside air temperature - though I haven't braved the Mojave desert.
