Alcantara headliner - aftermarket?

I saw that Porsche sells alcantara headliner as a part for about 1/2 price for the option that is on a new car.

Has anybody tried to install an after market headliner (this or another kind)?

Will Porsche require a "VIN form the car to match the part"?
