I also live in Texas and have been pulled over twice for not having a front plate, both times I managed to get away with a warning but that is all they pulled me over for.

Cold Croc & NJ Nick:
I will be posting photos this weekend of the completed installation. I decided to use the GM Corvette color matched license plate frames with the Top Flight Bracket. I rec'd the GM Machine Silver Rear plate frame today this frame is used in conjunction with the Top Flight Bracket if you wish. You use the GM "Rear" plate frame on the front plate location of the Cayman. The GM Machine Silver Frame is very pricey but the color match to my Arctic Silver is amazingly close. After carefully measuring for exact centerline of the Cayman I mounted the base plate of the Top Flight Bracket to the bottom of the front center of the air dam, then the detachable bracket is secured by wing nuts to the mounting base plate. Once this is done I set the license plate itself in the GM plate frame and completed the installation, boy does it look good. I am very satisfied with the results. I understand many like the mower plate solution and that is fine, to each his own. If anyone has questions I will gladly answer them. The beauty of this system is no permanent holes or marks of any kind are needed. My description may sound a lot more complicated than it actually is as I completed the install in about 30 mins and most of that was time used to just think through the process.

Here are the remainder of the pictures I took of the Detachable Plate Bracket.

In the picture where I am pointing at the base plate bracket, please note the 2 studs which allow the plate bracket to be secured to the base unit with wing nuts. Hope this helps anyone interested, obviously I will stick to Architectural Design and leave the photo journalism to those more qualified.

Please note: I live in NY but I purchased my CS from Tysons Corner Porsche and I have yet to receive my NY Plates, hence the tempo Virginia tags

Any questions feel free to ask.

I might've missed this but how does the base plate attach to the bottom lip of the bumper?

Thanks! Looks good!

The base plate is attached to the bottom of the air dam with 3M tape. So the installation is absolutely totally reversible.

Looks good but does the 3M tape attachment mean that a "knowledgeable or lucky" thief can easily rip it off or do you have another security feature?

Thanks for the reply. Based on that, a couple more questions:

1) Will the plate hold up at 100+ miles an hour? In other words, how fast can one go before it might be a problem?
2) Will the plate rub up on the bumper therefore scratching it (the bumper)?

Seems like a good alternative for those who do not like the tow hook method.

Thanks!

Santa Fe, they better bring their heat gun with them if they are going to take the base plate. I guess they can take the frame & license plate without too much trouble but that is a risk I will gladly accept, nothing is perfect I guess.

Probably would not be too hard to add a tiny security cable if you might need that.
