Aluminum "track mats"?

Any thoughts?

As seen on eBay. Any practical value? Thoughts?

"Rennline’s new Track Mats give your interior the purposeful look of a racing Porsche and are the perfect solution for protecting your interior from the wear and tear of track driving. The only product of its kind on the market, Rennline’s Track Mats are inspired by the floor design of factory Cup Cars to provide drivers a smooth flooring surface that enables the quick footwork demanded of track driving. Rennline’s Track Mats are constructed from lightweight anodized aluminum, weigh less than two pounds, and are stamped with reinforcing ribs for strength. They fit precisely over the contours of Porsche floors and affix with Velcro or can be permanently mounted if desired. For automobiles with molded one piece carpets, Track Mats fit directly over the non-removable floor carpeting and can be covered completely with the factory floor mats when not in use. One of the main benefits of Track Mats for these automobiles is the protection they afford the floor carpeting, which wears rapidly when the loose floor mats are removed for track driving. For automobiles with removable carpets, Track Mats attach directly to the floors with Velcro, bind the inner rocker and center tunnel carpeting in place, and prevent wear to the soft sound deadener surface of the factory floor pans. When not in use, Track Mats can be removed or simply covered with the stock floor mats."

I've had them for over a year and I love them. You hardly ever have to vacuum and I get compliments all the time.

I bought them straight from Rennline.com

A friend likes them in his C4S since you can't use mats at the track, says it helps with his footwork and keeps from wearing a heel spot on the interior. They're having a holiday sale soon I believe.

Both true statements… can’t be installed on passenger-side with BOSE system and as pictured not a Cayman.

I had one on the driver's side for a little while, and it scratched up the front of the seat rails pretty bad. I took it out and replaced it with a rubber mat, which looks good and works great.

I take it one can not use floor mats in certain events?

Is that standard floor mats that are banned?

I like the ribbed heavy duty rubber mats above the factory mats. [I use both together.] Especially in winter conditions or areas that receive a lot of rain as those things will hold a ton of slush and really protect your carpetting and flooring.

I'd recommend them to anyone driving in regular winter conditions.

THAT is what that protrusion is that I didn't remember in my other car.

Mystery solved.

I have Bose and I have the mats on my driver side and passenger side. It's been too long since I bought them... so I can't remember if I had to specify that I had Bose or if you just get the same (Passenger Side) mat regardless.

Anyhow, I had to unscrew the subwoofer, put the mat down, then put the subwoofer back in. it took about 10 minutes.

I bought from Rennline - Porsche Performance Parts, Accessories & Race Parts for Porsche, BMW & Audi

I love the mats, have had no 'rail scratching' issues and do no regret my purchas at all. I've had them installed for 17,000 miles. No issues.
