Softronic Plenum & Software?

As IPD / RSS have now announced their reinforced Hose to solve the 'Collapsing Problem' I am soreley tempted to go ahead and buy it....

Does PCA-Tech have information on the status of his Plenum/Hard Connection/Software solution yet?

We understand that Cayman S (Ken) will be testing this out sometime......................?

1. When will it be available?
2. What will the Price be?
3. What power Improvement is anticipated
3. Can we see Photos?

I believe (Forgive me if I am wrong), that the Plenum might be an existing Porsche item - if so which vehicle/part number?

I would prefer to go down the Softronic route, if at all possible due to the proven increase in performance given by the Snap-Flash ECU Tuning software, and the fact that the solution is not just hardware but a combined approach.

Any information would be much appreciated.

I beleive this is the situation:

1. IPD Plenum, hardware install.
2. As above in conjunction with Special version Snapflash. Not released yet.
3. Softronic plastic Plenum with Special version Snapflash. Not released yet.

Rumor is that having specific software that matches the Plenum yields a bit more that if you had a standard software upgrade. We should only expect a small improvement. How much is the big question.

I had offered my car for testing on this because I am geographically very close to PCA-Tech and I am very curious about the combination of mods. If you follow my posts and know my style, you understand that I am very skeptical about most mods, so my willingness to offer up my car should make a big statement about my confidence in this one. (My car is bone stock, so it should be a very accurate test subject.)

With the holidays screaming up on us and the weather in our neck of the woods being terrible at best, it's been tough to get my car in for dyno testing and to hook up with PCA-Tech for installation. I hope to be able to do so within the next couple of weeks, assuming this works with PCA-Tech's schedule. (We've been pounded with snow and ice in the last two weeks, and my Cayman S is still wearing her Pilot Sport PS2s.)

I just deleted a very long post about the changes and expected gains because my inner skeptic stepped in. I don't want to speculate until the facts are in.

If you were to install an IPD Plenum and then we discover that this combination delivers much better results, you could always apply the new Softronic software package to the IPD plenum (at a reduced cost) and achieve similar if not exact results.

Gator Bite,
From your message, you seem to have knowledge of what Softronic is planning with the 3.8 intake parts. If software was equal, do you think the 3.8 intake parts will exceed the performance of the IPD plenum? I know you said you don't want to speculate so let's just say I'm respectfully asking for your opinion.
Thanks.

Mr. Brown,

In my opinion, if software were equal and you swapped the two plenums there would be no difference. But that is an untested opinion.

I have spoken to Scott extensively on his plans and do understand and like where he is going with this mod. I am very curious to see the results which I expect before the end of January.

Depending when Scott is releasing the new flash, I will be dyno testing the difference of the current Snap-Flash version and the new hybrid flash, but with the IPD plenum only! Nonetheless a good indication of changes for those who already purchased the IPD plenum and don’t want to Dyno…
I just need the program before mid 1/18, otherwise I will be gone to CO till March and can’t Dyno before…
