Exclamation Flashing a base Cayman is stupid.

I just want to go on the record that I believe that if you want more power, should have bought the S. Good now I feel better. Secondly, please, please remind me of this post whenever I start talking about the Softronic upgrade for the Cayman. Extra 15 HP sounds very intriguing, and their sale makes it very compelling.

So what do you think? Would I feel the extra 15 HP? What else does the software allow me to do? I have not been able to find much rich information there.

I have read in other posts on this site that it takes about a 30hp increase for it to be perceptable to us humans. Our butt dynos are not very sensitive.

To me all of the "righteous", good intentioned suggestions that people make in the MODIFICATION section, in some strangely personal effort to persuade mature, intelligent adults NOT to do mods on their Caymans and Cayman S, wreak of twisted, bizarre, sophomoric sermonizing.

Let's just give what good facts, and interesting and fun technical info that we may have to these good people who wish to mod, and then maybe we can skulk off to the Miscellaneous> Bizarre Thinking section, and write about own personal dissatisfaction with other people doing mods that do not pass our personal approval. Let's just give the person our best facts, wish them good journey, and then let them decide WITHOUT including our personal righteous sermons.

Was someone sermonizing? If so I guess I missed it.

Anyway, all things being equal, an ECU flash should get you "something" in terms of a performance improvement. Is it 5hp, 10? 15? could be any of those, you'd have to test your own individual car on the dyno before and after to be certain of what changed for you and your car. Is that change meaningful to you? I don't know, only you can answer that. If you were driving your car on the track and had a competitive nature then I assume every little last ounce of performance potential would be worth "something" to you, again how much is really up to your personal preferences not ours.

I think most of the ECU tuning companies have a 30 day money back guarantee, if you like it you buy it, if you don't, then they disable the flash and your $ are returned. Seems like a good way to find out whether or not the flash is for you, like trying on a pair of pants before you remember that courdoroy went out a decade ago...

Loosen Up Bodhi

I can Understand that point of view Bodhi,But Kor has a valid opinion and a reasonalby funny answer that I sincerely appreciate. sometimes I go on this forum for some serious answers that I sincerely need and I do belive That Tomasz Feels kinda frustrated that often US (Including Me) base model owners get this Teasing from the S model owners.I can assure you though that it is all in good fun.If you brouse this forum as I do Everyday like alot of us ,the Questions always get answered along with some jesters throwing in a few Ha ha's here and there .Thats what Makes it INTERESTING AND FUN .what Kor said brought a REAL smile to my face . The Question will be answered but not without a little fun here and there. Besides KOR knows that Base model guys get all the action with the woman they just spent more $$ for nothing .Getting back to the Question Tomasz I have not Flashed my base cayman but have done the De-snorkel and aftermarket Exhaust ,Powder coated My calipers,De-emblemized the car, custom wheels,Custom Paint and lowered.so far I have not done any flashing but have looked into it for 6 months now .There has been NO decent flashing in my opinion for the base Cayman.I would do the other stuff and wait at this time.

i dunno about u guy but from where im from a base cayman and a cayman s has a price differene our almost 80,000 USD.. So it would be wiser to try to do modifcation on the base cayman rather than to buy the cayman S outright and since there is not a lot of porsche on the street people here dun really know the diffrence between a cayman and the cayman S
