IPD Plenum

I have installed the Fab-Speed exhaust(not the headers) and had them re-flash the ECU. I am now considering adding the IPD Plenum and I spoke to Fab-Speed to see if the re-flash would handle the increased air flow. The response was it may make the car run too lean. What has the experiance been with those of you who have added the plenum with a ECU re-flash?

Bit strange, surely you'd just get the ECU re-programmed again AFTER installing the plenum ?

Configured for ALL your mods....

I'm also seriously thinking of adding the fabspeed exhaust and would also look to the do the plenum, think I'll leave the ECU remap until after I've done both of those and fitted the LSD.

IMHO the person who told you that is an idiot (PC rephrase: "the person who told you that is not knowledgeable about engine control software").

Your car has a mass flow sensor that measures the mass of the air entering the engine. The engine computer will supply the correct amount of fuel for the measured amount of air. The plenum will increase the amount of air, but so would driving on a cold day.

If the flash won't work with a plenum, it won't work on a cold day, either.

I agree that there is no way your engine will run lean.

Fort beat me to it. That guy knows nothing, forget his comments.
The experience is good, more power and no downside (not any more). Do it!

I also see an improvement, I can easy spin tires on second gear ! And I have a modded croc. Car as faster even after all the mods ! A Dyno run can testify that but unfort. not one around here.

There are a couple places to get that .I believe there is a Rule here on this forum that does not allow me to Promote the One I support but maybe I can say I am really Happy with My Softronic and Scott . do some searching here on the Plenum subject and the answer will hit you right on the head .. its a no brainer decision in my personal opinion ..and it works

The IPD Plenum is the "No Brainer"

The IPD plenum (even without software) has proven to be the single best mod you can install on a Cayman. We've posted countless dynos, with both modded and unmodded cars and all have yielded great results. Independent customers have posted their dyno results and we've even seen European Car Magazine dyno test the IPD plenum always with great results. I thought the debate was over. But just in case you need a recap here are some dynos for your viewing pleasure. Some of the dynos also showcase our new “Competition IPD Plenum” with a true 82mm Throttle Body, which will be available soon.

While conducting your research you will probably find that there are members who have pledged their allegiance to their respective board sponsors and will never surrender the fight. After you conduct your “searching here on the Plenum subject and the answer will hit you right on the head .. its a no brainer decision in my personal opinion ..and it works”

Please feel free to give me a call with any additional questions or concerns.

Cheers,
Greg

The Dyno above was conducted on a Cayman S that was already equipped with a FULL Cargraphic exhaust. The IPD Plenum Intake works very well when combined with a high quality free flow performance exhaust.
