Removing and painting center console silver dash trim (radio, A/C and such) to black
Ok, so I want to paint the silver center console's dash trim to match my car's exterior color (which is black). I think this will look really good. I'm talking about the silver pieces on the radio, A/C and bottom pocket trim.
I see it seems attached to the radio as well as A/C unit itself. Based on this picture below which is on the PCM Install Article, is there a way to unclip the front trim piece from the radio unit itself?
If we could remove the trim off the radio, then it would be easy to paint... otherwise I am confused on how I can do this well.
it is my understanding that it cannot be done. eric at bumperplugs told me this. i had the same idea.

Hmmm, well I was wondering because they allow you to order it direct from Porsche in a different color... and they have to be able to paint it somehow!

Reason: Misspelling
I had bumperplugs paint mine too... BumperPlugs Faceplates and Console
Only i got the faceplates in metalic silver. and yes, there is a way to remove the faceplates and all of the buttons(which have to be removed for bumperplugs to do the paintjob). i believe there are a bunch of little screws behind the faceplates that need to be removed, but... call this number, 865-691-2834, it is Harpers Porsche in knoxville tennessee. ask for Mark and explain to him what you're trying to do. he's the one that removed my faceplates and im sure he(or one of his techs) can explain it better than i can. good luck!

Eric, that picture of the painted center console looks great... I've seen you guy's work around the site and on your website and it looks nothing but top-notch!
Chris, wow - thanks so much for the detailed info. I just spoke with Mark and he said it was pretty easy to do and to just be careful when doing it. Your interior is HOT!!!
I am going to attempt to remove the trim pieces now and I'll be sure to take pictures so I can write this up so it can help others in the future. I think this is a really cool mod that adds a nice look to our cars. :-)
Ah, come on Eric, that's not fair. Now I have to send you a bunch of parts to get painted Actually I was planning on doing so anyway, so this will just add to the list.
You'll see an email from me soon. Any other shots of that white interior would be appreciated.
